I ordered my EX-L with DVD mid Oct., no dealer add ons for $30,264 from Friendly Honda. I hope to get it by the end of the month. They told me the price and no haggle. Very professional and easy to work with. I highly recommend them.

Holtz tried to screw me back in July...lowball for my Accord started at 5500 (when it was worth ~9k Edmunds/KBB trade in)..and I quit playing with them when the maxed out at 7k...Ontario offered better, but good to know...
I see Dick Ide here in Rochester has 9 on the lot (including 2 in the showroom)...something tells me they are gouging and going to have a hard time getting their future allocations soon...
Anybody tried CollegeHills Honda in Ohio?
They had a $1000 off coupon for a while on Pilots...maybe a shorter drive than MI!

Reverse Auction by atalalay

Just stumbled into a (rather) new and interesting site that offers a reverse auction (sellers/dealers bid down the prices) for cars: http://www.mycarmyprice.com/search/default.asp It should work well for buyers, at least in theory... And probably worth the nominal charge... in my opinion...

The last Pilot went for about MSRP but it was not sold in a highly populated area (with many dealers). BTW: Odysseys are going under MSRP.

I put in for $1,000 under MSRP just to see what would happen, and a guy from Priceline emailed saying it just wasn't going to happen. We've re-submitted at $500 under.
At the moment, I've found three dealers with the vehicle we want, silver EX-L, and they're all quoting MSRP. They all tell me (the other guys will tell you MSRP and then try to add options). They all pit each other against one another...kinda funny. Anyway, Rock Honda in Fontana, where we bought our Odyssey two three years ago is MSRP, has the car on the lot, and gives lifetime free oil changes. Too bad I live 50 miles from the dealership. I called my local dealer only 3 miles away to see if they'd match the free oil changes, and they said no. I just don't want buyer's remorse in finding out someone paid less than me in the SoCal area. I just tell each dealership that I'm shopping for the best price and that I've been quoted MSRP and can they do better, and none of them are budging. Frustrating.

Since the price of the Pilot varies widely depending on where in the US you are, it would be helpful to have your state/city mentioned either in the post or your profile.

Thanks.

I wanted to chime in from southern Indiana...

Supply and demand here is crazy. Mostly because there's only 2 dealers within a 125 mile radius. There's no Pilots on dealer lots and all those coming in through December are on deposit or sold. Basically, if you buy now, you'll get it in January.

Here's the deal I've been quoted:
Pilot EX at MSRP
Trailer package at $869
Trade at about $600 less than book value

I'm on the fence on this. Wife & I like the Pilot. But, I'm in sales (not cars) and it just kills me to buy sticker for a car and get screwed on the trade at the same time.

I'd fly up to Friendly Honda in MI (actually grew up in Detroit) but then I'd be stuck with selling the old car.

Don't know what to do on this. Anybody think prices will drop more in early 2003?

Happy to have company outside of California where the demand far outstrips the supply and the annoying game playing goes on.
But also happy to see that their are dealers offering less than MSRP more and more.
