I'm in Carlsbad, CA and my rep told me that a score of 720 or better will qualify for the 2.9 apr. As a backup, I went to my local credit union and got approved at their rate of 4.75. If Honda starts jerking me around, I'll go to my CU.

My Pilot, EX-L, DVD RES, will be ready for me tomorrow. Already have a $1,000 deposit onit. Only aftermarket option I'm getting is LoJack.

Just checked the Honda website current offers. They indeed update the year end finance deals for all 2004/2005 new vehicles for 2.9% APR upto 60 months.

We don not allow salesman names on this board. Dealer name and location are allowed.

bought a '04 exl in early Dec for about $800 below invoice. $24K for a Pilot EXL? I would fight to get a deal. Even a '05 crv exl costs ~22K.

Thank you for posting. That is a good deal, I want to make sure that it is 05? Please let me know whom should I contact to purchase the Pilot.
Thanks.

Thanks for the info - I too have been shopping multiple dealers in the DC area ( about 15) and this is the best price by $300! I just picked up my 05 EX-L at Hendrick Honda in Woodbridge. Same deal - 28632 base including freight - dealer processing was an extra 299. 2.9% financing.. With Virginia taxes tags and title out the door was 29877 - no surprises, no haggling at all. No pressure sales and decent selection on the lot.
The dealer indicated that this price will be valid until the 26th and is likely to increase by 300.

They offered extended warranty and rust proofing packages - I turned them down and they offered again with a really good price drop on the packages. I just didn't want them but if you do, I imagine that refusing them at first it will help your price. You can always come back ( I think within 30 days and get the packages).

Learned a few things from shopping around:

-- Internet sales are distinct from the floor sales in most dealerships. Many internet salespersons dont operate on commissions (just volume) so the floor sales people will haggle more and have greater flexibility than internet sales people... but they start at much much higher price and you may not get the best deal.

--Dealers price below invoice on certain models in order to earn the right to acquire additional vehicles from the manufacturer. This helps them grow in size but also will allows dealerships to acquire more profitable models ( i.e. selling more Pilot EX-Ls at a loss allows them to acquire more Odysseys that they can sell at a grand above invoice) If a dealer can't sell below invoice -they just can't sustain the hit on their overall profit and may not be interested in growth or you have a sales manger more concerned about profits than sales volume.

Hope this helps somebody. Even if you can afford MSRP shop around and donate the savings to charity. Thanks all.

( Hersons Honda in Rockville also had a good price quote online - 28750 base+515 freight+100 processing = 29365 minus taxes tags title)

Good to know that you got the same deal as I did. I don't think any other dealership is giving a better deal than this.

I found out that the internet salesmen actually get a salary and not a commission. At koon's the salesman simply stopped the processing when I tried to go below the price which the dealership offered (which was 500 below invoice).

So, the internet search for car deals proved to be very effective. And I could actually use the quotes for the dealerships against each other and tried them to beat one another.

Surprisingly, I got a deal from Hernson (MD), which is still lying in my mailbox, which was 900 below invoice. But I had already bought my 05 pilot exl from Hendrick, Woodbridge, VA

Pilot EX-L in SF Bay Area by samba

Can anyone post prices paid in last week in SF Bay Area ?

I was quoted $500 under invoice from Anderson Honda (Menlo Park) over phone but they did'nt have the color we wanted. I went to our nearest dealer Autowest Honda (Fremont) and after a lot of back & forth was "sold" a EX-L for $30,200+Tax&Lic&Fees with the following options:
1) Running board
2) Mud Guard (listed on sticker, not installed)
3) Cross Bars
4) Wheel Locks
5) Trunk Tray
When we were finished with the credit check etc and had even wrote out the check for down payment, I confirmed they were going to install the missing option when service dept was open on Monday. The Manager shocked both us and their own saleman by refusing to honor his part of the deal saying there wasn't any more room in the price to install the missing option ! We walked out after spending almost 3 hrs in the dealership... Were we getting too good of a deal ? Anybody else got a similar deal in recent days in SF Bay Area ?
