I was just catching up on messages, where in MA did you get this deal? I'm from Western MA and having no luck with lower pricing. I'm now searching the Springfield area for prices.

Just Bot Pilot EX-L by carolinadave

Just purchased a 2005 EX-L from Mike Pruitt(MP) in Akron, Ohio. Had been checking out this board for a month, good info, many thanks. Paid $450 over invoice and $125 for title and tags. Tax will be paid in North Carolina when I register it.
Dealing over the internet with MP is the only way to go; no games and no surprises. No other dealer in NC or VA could match the price so I paid $560 to have the Pilot shipped by MP to Virginia, my daughter's house. I then drove it home to NC.
The shipment was in a closed trailer by a very professional individual. The Pilot arrived in showroom condition. The internet manager at MP was a delight to deal with. I cant help believing that this way of buying vehicles will soon be the primary mode for most folks. When I ran the MP quote by other dealers they generally advised me that it couldn't be a real, out the door price. It was.

I'm thinking of buying an 05 pilot ex with leather. I haven't received any quotes yet but would like to start with a ballpark. Invoice plus $500, delivery and 2.9% taxes for my area comes to 30,776.$1000 over would be 31,290. Do these seem reasonable or am I dreaming.

I bought a 2004 EX with Leather, so I'm probably not much help, all my quotes were 2004s.

Forget a "ballpark", just send your emails/faxes and see what you get. Make sure you include Mike Pruitt, Jacobs Twin, and some other Ohio/Chicago Hondas in your requests for bids as it seems they have great prices. Unless you are in the area, you will need to pay to fly there and drive home, or have the car shipped, so factor that into your bids and take the best one.

Also, you need to post "your area" for anyone to comment on how reasonable your prices are...

I suggest visiting the Honda web site and get links to every Honda dealer within an area that you are willing to travel. Contact each dealer and ask for a quote. Once you get the quotes, you can use them for negotiating leverage. Just be sure that you are very specific about what you want and ensure that there will be no last minute surprises when you decide to visit a dealer.

Last week I picked up an EX-L (could have gotten any color) for 29409 (invoice) in central NJ. I e-mailed 5 dealers and they were all pretty close I went with the one that gave me the most $$ for my trade ins. Had a great experience at Kay Honda. NJ inventory seems to be high and prices are good

I noticed that the inventory in the Seattle area seems high also. One dealer had 63 Pilots, another 40. I haven't got any quotes yet, but it seems like invoice should be no problem.

Got 2 quotes from NY metro & westchester,NY area:

2004Pilot EX-L: 28260 (515 dest included)
2005Pilot EX-L: 28894+515=29409 (edmunds invoice+dest)

Are these price any good?

For the 2004 model, understably the dealer is eager to move the inventory and willing to cut price.

It seems not too hard to get invoice these days for a '05 Pilot. Any comments?

Edit: any major diff between '04 and '05 Pilot?
