Duval Honda - Jacksonville by gatorfan4

Yesterday I purchased a new 2004 EX-L Sandstone Metallic for my wife, and couldn't be more pleased with my experience at Duval Honda. They sold it for 2% over invoice ($28,826, i.e. $565 over invoice), plus a $279 dealer fee. In addition, they offered $300 more than the Kelley trade-in value for my 97 Olds Silhouette van with 113,000 miles (the van was showing its age!). There were no dealer add-ons, like fabric protectant, etc. It was a clean deal. My out the door price, after the $3,000 trade-in allowance and adding on tax, title and fees, was $27,858. The atmosphere was low-key and very professional.

The low mark-up surprised me. There are about 5 or 6 Honda dealers locally, and initially they were all talking in terms of small amounts off MSRP, and two had dealer ad-on stickers that grossly inflated the price. So I called Costco to see if their auto buying service could do better. Turns out that no local Honda dealers were participating in the Costco program, but Coggin Honda in Orlando did. Their price was "only" $900 over invoice, so I was prepared to drive the 100 miles to get the better price.

Before I did, I emailed each of the internet salesman at the local dealers, and to my surprise, they each offered to match the Coggin Orlando pricing. I went to Duval Honda, and they had the exact car I was looking for. If I was willing to sign that day, they would do even better, at just 2% over invoice. Obviously I jumped at the opportunity.

So, today, I'm a happy camper with new EX-L at a price I could afford.

Just returned with my EX Black with Saddle cloth interior from Mike Pruitt. I live in Northern NJ and could not get a quote lower that 29K. I emailed MP and received a quote of 27,400. Here's how it all went.
*Accepted quote and they had my car via a swap in one week.
*Sent me pictures of my EX with VIN. Did not even have to ask for it.
*Finaced thru MP, got a good low rate through Chase Bank.
*Sent me ALL the paperwork (with stickey arrows to show me where to sign) via Airborne Express with a PRE-PAID return Airborne Express envelope.
*Flew out of LaGuardia at a cost of $70 on Air-Tran and guess who told me about it... Mike Pruitt.
*Was picked up at the airport by Mike Pruitt driver.
*Arrived at dealership. Car was already.. walked me through the particulars of the car. Was in and out in one hour!! Even suggested a great hamburger place close by.
Drove home in 7 hours with 2 stops.
Pilot drove great!!

Total cost savings including airfare and car service to airport $1400!!!!!

Thank You Mike Pruitt. NJ Honda dealers take notice on how to do business....

Another Mike Pruitt Honda Testimonial, well worth the trip by j2thomas

After searching for 2 months for a full sized SUV we decided to go with a Honda Pilot. We drove all the competition, (Durango, Explorer, Pacifica, Grand Cherokee, Murano and even a few 4 door trucks).

We then tried to get a deal locally and struck out. Every Honda dealer within 100 miles wanted MSRP, the best internet deal we could do locally was 300 under MSRP.

During our research I found some folks getting great deals in OH, but OH was 450 miles away. A quick email to Mike Pruitt Honda in Akron, OH confirmed a price of $400 over invoice and that they would find an LX or order 1. The search was a bust so the internet sales manager ordered a Silver LX and honored the agreed upon price. 2 weeks later the car was in and we picked it up yesterday.

The internet sales manager and the finance manager at MP Honda were stellar. In and out in under an hour. It was by far the easiest car puchase I've ever done, and this is our 3rd car purchased over the net.

While we were in OH we visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but that's a story for another post.

I cannot say enough about our out of state purchase, I'd do it again in a heart beat. Mike Pruitt Honda is the best!

While looking at the MDX I had a friend that told me about a broker in the bay area named NorCal Auto Brokers. They helped my friend find a TSX at a really good price and had it delivered right to his home. When I called about the MDX the guy was really cool and helpful. He mentioned that I might want to look at the Pilot as well...which is why I am here. Anyway, you might want to give them a call and see what they can get you on a Pilot.

NY Metro Area by njdriver1

Drove numerous vehicles this weekend and we are close to deciding on the Pilot w/nav. But the dealer put a hard sell on claiming the cars need 6-8 week delivery. Does anyone have any idea if these are available or not in the NYC area? I don't need the car till 6/15 and I'd rather keep shopping for a few weeks. Thanks

I live in south Jersey. I was trying to buy a Pilot from the local dealers. David Michael in Freehold quoted me "non-negotiable internet price" - MSRP. DCH Academy quoted me around $800 under MSRP. Others were in between. After found out all these talks about Mike Pruitt in OH, decided to give it a shot. Turn out to be the best car buying experience ever. Picked up my silver EX-L with RES last Saturday (4/24)from Mike Pruitt for $400 over dealer invoice. I was on the same flight with Joe (see message 2237). Went through the same thing with Joe (got VIN when the vehicle was in assemble line, delivery date. received picture when delivered...). The one-hour in the dealership, 50 minutes of it spent on getting familiar with the vehicle, 10 minutes on paper work. That was it.

I got to tell you the internet manager in Mike Pruitt was so honest, professional and helpful. The way they treat their customer is unbelievably well. I truly respect the way they conduct business.

The 7+ hours drove back was little long to me. But for $1600 of savings, I have no problem with it at all.

Hello. I've been lurking awhile and have been following all of the posts regarding prices people paid on their Pilots. I am looking to purchase a Pilot in the next 6-8 weeks. It seems that Mike Pruitt Honda is quite impressive. I live in the NY metro area. Has anyone had an experience with trading in their vehicle to MP Honda? I'm curious as to the process as well as how fair of a price given on the trade-in. All posts appreciated. Thanks!

Mike Pruitt gave me a very low price range on my trade, sight unseen. I told them I was uncomfortable driving the trade from Connecticut and then getting stuck with the lower end of the range. They told me it worked both ways...that they didn't want to promise me more than what it was worth as they had been stuck paying too much for trades. I decided not to buy from them as they required a non-refundable deposit and would not provide me with a written contract...only an email with the price on it. I bought from Classic Honda in Streetsboro, OH who matched Mike Pruitt's price and they were OUTSTANDING! Their deposit was fully refundable and they provided me with a contract. I sold the trade myself on www.autotrader.com for a lot more than what either dealer was going to offer me. By the way, I got calls on autotrader from NYC, NJ and PA so I would recommend you give that web site a try. Classic Honda picked me up from the airport and provided me with lunch. The drive back through PA I-80 was beautiful and it was a wonderful experience.

I also live in south Jersey and pretty much set to pick up my vehicle from Mike Pruitt in OH. I'm getting a Sandstone EX-L with Navigation at $600 over dealer invoice. I tried several dealers in my area and they couldn't match it. David Michael in Freehold said the best they can do is $500 below MSRP and congratulated me on getting such a low price.

I also received my VIN number but no picture. I keep asking the salesman to send me one and he says that they are really busy and doesn't think he can get around to it. Who did you deal with at Mike Pruitt? If you can't mention people's names on this discussion initials would be fine.

I'll post my full experience once I get my vehicle.

It was a lady (can't mention name here). I did not ask for it. She sent it to me on her day off (different email address than the salesXXmikepruitthonda.com). She was really nice and helpful.
