I would like to buy a pilot and also live in Southern California. I have no trade in, will probably pay cash for the car and want whatever color shows dirt the least (probably silver). I have two small children and very little free time. Any recommendations regarding which dealer you used in So. Cal., price paid, etc.? The only options I care about are leather seats for durability and 4WD for the snow.

I am looking for the same thing right now. The prices you are quoting would be the ridiculosly high range from a honda dealer selling CPO or an outrageous used car dealer. It depends where you are of course but all over the country there are a ton of 06 Pilots hitting the auctions right now. The reason is they are all coming off lease and Honda is upside down in the residuals. Meaning what someone could buy their lease out for is $3-5K more than the car is worth so everyone is returning them. I should know I have an 06 2wd lx that the residual from my lease to purchase is $15,300 or so and the wholesale auction value is in the $11-$12K range, so I will definetly be turning it in. Have tried to sell it on Craigslist for $16K, and not one serious inquiry. Some brands will negotiate residual values but American Honda finance does not. That said I have found some good wholesale dealers that are selling 06 EXL with mileage from 40-60K around the $17k range and 06 EXL with Navi for around $18K. These are all 2wd and I am sorry that I dont have LX information but I am interested in getting a loaded pilot for purchase this go round. I am in NC and the best wholesale dealers for price and quantity of cars, afterall thats what their business model, buy and sell a lot of vehicles making smaller profits, has been in DC or Atlanta. I am in NC so that is as far as I am willing to look. Its worth a 4 or 5 hour drive to me, or $100 one way plane ticket to save $3-4K minimum. If you want a one owner 06 pilot 2wd black with tan cloth with only 45kmiles for $16K PM me, but my guess is you can find a cheaper one if you hit autotrader.com and cars.com and do some searching with a 500mile radius from you. You will notice some dealers have lots of low prices pilots continuesly Those are the ones you want to contact. Hope this helps and sorry for the long post.

I still had to dicker a little bit with Crown of Greensboro when we bought(leased) or 06 Pilot but it only took 2:30 mintues total from start to signing papers. Just dont buy and junk from the FI(finance and insurance) guy. They will sell you anything you can think of. Good luck.

I also think that some of the posts on this forum are placed there by dealers. But just sort through all the information available and you will see a pattern to what is probably bogus! All in all, this forum is a real big help.
But it is amazing on the variances in the difference quotes. I am looking for a 2010 Pilot EX-L 2WD, Dark Cherry with beige interior or, as a 2nd choice, the Mocha Metallic with beige interior. No options are being requested. I am receiving quotes as much as $2,500 different! I suspect that they are shooting for maximum profit and hoping that I will try to negotiate with them. If they are much too high on their first quote, I mark that dealer off my list real quick!
But I have the feeling that they must not realize that we talk to each other and get information off of the web. I have the feeling that many of them think we are completely uninformed.
If anyone in the North Carolina area finds a dealer with a good inventory of EX-L
2WD's, please let me know. It seems that the Dark Cherry Pearl and the Mocha Metallic with beige interior are hard to find.

I was quoted an additional $500. by one dealer and no additional charge from another dealer. I suspect it depends on the distances involved and the agreements between the dealers. It does cost them something in time and expense. If they don't quote a charge for the transfer, they probably have made it up some other place. But I feel that $500 is completely out of reason (sort of like the $499 peocessing/documentation fee!) Any costs being shown for transfer would be a good negotiating point to reduce the cost of the car.
I like to actually see and drive the vehicle prior to the purchase so I have decided to buy only from a dealer that had my choice on their lot. If you agree on a transfer, you should have your dealer verify the mileage on the car being transfered to you.
Sorry, I can't help on your question concerning the cars that the dealer may have on order. And they may not know the exact cars until shortly prior to receiving them. It would be nice to know this information but I don't think this is something that the dealer would like to provide you. They like to get their existing cars off of the lot first.

WWW.PENFED.ORG How does 3.99% for 60 months sound to you???? Got to have great credit of course. But you can join for less than $40 including starting an account with a $5 deposit. This will be a lower rate given the long term, up to 5 years, than you will probably see from Honda if and when they return. They will even do it for used cars. Giving away all my secrets today.

acadia-can you tell me which chicago deal you got this price at? We are planning to purchase this car this week. We were out sat at the honda on wells in chicago and they quoted $41,000!!! for the 2010 FWD Touring with NAV and RES.
He even had a 2009 with NAV no RES that was slightly used with 4,500 miles and quoted us $36,000!

jodiep--we got several quotes in MI for a 4WD touring with nav/res for invoice plus destination. Best price we found so far, so may be worth the 1-2hr drive. Also, just got off with another dealer who said that some incentives for financing were released today.

If you are shopping using quotes from the internet you will not get the best price because they know you are shopping for quotes. Dealers know the serious shoppers visit them.

Maybe honda wants you to buy an accord or civic -- better for the mpg bottom line game. Very little support for med-large foreign suv's. 4k on an explorer - not rated bad. Loaded eddie bauer-leather awd roof-- 28k or less.
