What was your purchase price before tax and title? Did you purchase any additional accessories. I was thinking 34k including the incentive before tax/title without any additional accessories. Haven't gotten there with any dealers yet. I'm also thinking that the rebates should be even better in February. Doing a lot of thinking but not a lot of buying. The exact opposite of what the gov't and the car dealers want me to do.

The deal we just closed including destination fee was $28,900, down in Texas, for a 2009 Black Pilot EX-L 2WD. We also got the black side steps installed for $558 extra. Total price including tax and all fees (but not the side steps) was $30,850.

Are these good deals for cars that are on lot or cars that are ordered? by lithnights

For these great deals you are all getting, are these for a car you found on a dealer lot or for a car that you order? I assume the former but just want to make sure.

I have only bought one new car in my life (1996 Saturn which I ordered to my specs) which involved zero haggling, negotiating etc. so I don't know how this is done.

I guess the point of my question is.. if one is very picky, won't it be a lot harder to find a great deal since the amount of possible cars is so small? e.g.. if I want an exact car, let's say a silver 2WD EX-L with beige interior with no nav and no dvd, would that be hard to get a deal on? As opposed to walking in with an "I'll take almost anything" attitude and the dealer is happy to give you a deal on a certain color car b/c he has 10 of them and only 5 of the other colors.

I'm new to new car buying so thanks in advance!

Could you tell me which part of Texas you are in? I want exactly the same model with a dvd and my best price so far is still $2,000 (only for RES) more than what you paid.

Thanks.

Dealers will attempt to get you to take something from inventory because a deal isn't a deal until you've rolled over the curb with a Temp Tag. If the time it takes to locate a vehicle goes beyond the end of an incentive, then quotes including that incentive probably won't be honored. Also, there will be costs to the dealer in making a trade with another dealer, trade drivers to be paid, giving up something out of their own inventory etc. So they'll attempt to get you onto a specific vehicle before making their best offer.

However, they could make the same deal for you on a vehicle they'd have to find that they can on one in stock. If it really came down to it, they'll do it.

Did you have a trade in? Seems like a GREAT price. I am wondering if they stole your trade in though???

We are in Austin, but the dealership is in San Antonio. We got that quote using the Costco site, which I read about on a "How to good deal on a car" article. You have to have a Costco number. We were very specific about what car we wanted, but there are also enough Black '09 Pilot EX-L's out there that every dealer has one on the lot. That quote was the first quote from the dealer and there was no haggling involved. All of the other internet quotes were at least $1,000 higher. Some dealers have 50+ on the lot. We also looked at the Pathfinder, but most dealers only had one or two of those, so we weren't able to find the one we were looking for in that car.

That was the price that was given to us with no mention of trade-in. That was the first quote we got using the Costco site. And yes, we did a lot of research and I was even surprised by the price.

Penske Honda in Ontario. I also got a lower price from Spreen Honda in Loma Linda. It is a bit of a drive but you paid thousands less. I was going to purchase a 2009 EXL AWD for 32,500 OTD but I got laid off. I guess my car will have to wait. For the Touring AWD they wanted 35,400 OTD which was the BEST price I've found. Hope that helps.
