I do not know where you leave but i feel you should be doing better than that. I bought a 4WD Touring with RES for 35865(including Lighted Running board & all seasons mat) this August in MA. You just need to bargain more but when your first lady wants it,you may not be able to hold on forever. I love the lighted running board especially in this wintery condition.Goodluck with your shopping.

doesn't your price include the $2000 dealer incentive?

Woah, there's a $2000 dealer incentive this month? Thought I read on the forums that they inexplicably cut back on incentives in Nov. but I'm just a noobie.

No, there isn't a 2000 incentive for this month. There was one a while ago and it ended in August, I think.

I actually got off the phone with Honda Financial Services inquiring about the notorious "Bank Fees" of $595 that seems to be included by all the dealerships. They had no idea, what bank fees i was talking about. So i explained that the dealers are charging me this money to "initiate the lease loan" for me. Just like the closing fees for your home equity line, i explained. They still did not have any clue, and firmly said: quote: We do not charge dealers any "bank" fees for lease programs. I guess this is how dealers make their money on customers. You should shop around for better deal" end quote. I have talked to about 10 dealers so far, ALL of them have $595 bank fees incorporated into final lease price. Its like some sort of undisclosed pack they've all agreed to charge.
Also most, dealers charge the doc fee of $299. The fees come on TOP of the regular DMV (registration and title) fees. They wouldn't argue about it either.

Also is it customary to factor in Destination fees of $670 into the negotiated selling price of the vehicle for lease? Doesn't it get added to the MSRP?

Banks usually won't discuss acquisition fees, because some banks allow dealers to mark up the fee for extra profit.

All Honda Finance leases have an acquisition fee of $595. This goes to the bank, not the dealer. This doesn't mean that the dealer isn't given a fee for writing the lease, but it doesn't come directly out of your funds. That $595 goes to Honda Finance, regardless of what you were told by them.

Doc fees? Extra profit... pure and simple.

Adding destination, after the price quote? Just a way to make the price paid seem to be less... A ruse..

kyfdx

Interesting...Thanks kyfdx for your input. here is a deal i was just quoted on EXL AWD no RES:

Selling Price: $30,163 (well below invoice)
Residual: $18,291 (at 51%)
MSRP: $35,865 (note that the destination of $670 is already included here)
Term: 36 months

Now the dealer starts throwing all the fees in. Of course I can have a choice of paying these upfront or roll into my Selling Price to come up with new, higher lease pmt and $0 down.

Registration (NY): $133 (standard fee, cant argue about)
Bank: $595 (seems cant get away from it either)
Destination $670 (completely weird and outrageous)
Doc: $199 ( advertised as the lowest doc fees in Northeast - yeah right )
Total Fees: $1,597 without the 1st month payment.
New selling price: $31,760
the lease on that number is: $429/month before tax

I think if they could eliminate the Destination and Doc fees it would make a very attractive lease at $404 before tax.

any thoughts?

Adding the destination fee on to the selling price is just a weak way to do things... What else on the Monroney sticker isn't included in the price?

Bank/acquisition fee? Yeah.. everyone gets that one..

Doc fee? More "hidden" profit..

But, all that stated, you have to focus on the total price.

It looks like the actual price of the car is just over $32,000...(selling + destination + doc). Is that a good price for a Pilot with an MSRP of $35,865? Beats me.. check back to see what everyone else has paid. If you can't get anyone lower, then you'll know you are near the bottom..

The lease program is decent.... If you can get $429/mo.+tax, with only the first payment down, that isn't too bad... BUT, lower is always better!

Good luck,
kyfdx

That is a good price. I offered 500 under invoice and they would not budge from invoice. I did get 15% off accessories. Try that.
I got: Wheel Locks, Roof Crossbar, Chrome Side Steps, All Season Floor Mats, Cargo Dividers, Cargo Tray, Remote Start, Cargo Net, Cargo Cover Interior, Total Accessories $1,670.25, Installation $299.63.
 Subtotal $37,494.88
Honda Care Warrenty 96 / 120K $1,195.00
 Undercoating $570.00.
I Know it seems like a lot of stuff by hey 15% off. I got my moneys worth.

So far, no dealer will throw in the lighted running boards for the $35,038.00 price. One dealer told me I should jump on that price regardless of running boards and that there was no way he could match the price.
