Not sure about the numbers you are paying but if you are considering 2.9% per year your payment will equate $12509.16 + 1405 + 18250 = $ 32164.16 which is a little more than what you have. This is due to the interest. I am using 2.9% to give you an idea how much you will accumulate at the end of the 36 months if you were to deposit these payments in an account to collect that interest. I would say they are discounting the price of the car to about 32K. (BTW 32K is about 1k below the base MSRP).

Ex-L 09 Lease - Bank, Doc and other fees to negotiate by dannyhashovav

Dear all,
as i started my quest (not Nissan Quest ) for a good lease on EXL, I was quoted a "seemingly good deal" with some various fees ( bank, documentation etc) that were outright ridiculously high which triggered me to ask you these questions:

1. does $600 Bank fees and $299 Doc fees make any sense to you?
2. can one hustle and negotiate these fees down?
3: what are the standard fees that we can expect to pay without being fooled?

In this economy banks would love getting a high tier customer to leas him a car (Example: huge lines of home equity loans to qualifying customers from Citi and other lenders has no closing fees whatsoever). So unless its a dealers thing, i cant seem to accept that a Honda would require such huge fees to finance a loan of 17K.
Any input?

i found this Documentation Fees
Expenses like registration, tags, title, and other state fees. Determine the fees your state charges before you go shopping. Call the Department of Motor Vehicles to determine the cost of registering a new car, and getting the tags if necessary. It may be cheaper to transfer the tag from your old car to the new one. Once you know all documentation fees, determine if the dealer is padding the charge. Have the salesman give a breakdown of every fee in writing.
on www.carbuyingtips.com car buying tips. as for the "bank fee" that sounds suspicious. i could be wrong but it just sounds like a scam. how about you get a loan yourself. ask if the bank charges for fees. if they dont i would run not walk away...

seriously tho we went in and we were offered 1.9 which is the rate honda is charging.

I am looking for the same vehicle - 2wd Touring R&N and have a price of $35,226, which is about $214 under invoice. Your price is very good. But I expect Honda to put the cash incentive back on the Pilot for December to lower their inventory for year-end purposes. I may try to wait until first week of December once the new incentives (if any) are announced.

But if you cannot wait, you are buying under invoice and this is a good deal. Just watch for abnormally high doc fees.

2009 Pilot Touring without RES. White in color with grey interior.

Quoted $ 35,298.00 plus dealer doc of 55.00....and of course tax, license. Out the door price of 38,598.00...what do you think ?

A technical question. Was thinking about getting the running boards but the Honda web site shows them a accessory and KBB dont show them available at all. Anyone know what the scoop is ? I am thinking about asking them to "throw" those in and we have a deal. I think they showed the cost at just over $600.00

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

$34972 is a good price. I bought same vehicle back in August for $34500 after much haggling but there was dealer cash back then as well. That was only 3% above dead cost.

Remember to indicate whether you are discussing 2WD vs 4WD when you post your prices. The response that I just posted RE: $34500 for Touring Nav & RES was for 4WD.

Been negotiating with a couple of dealers on a 4wd Touring without RES. Have got them both down to 35,038.00 base price (includes doc fee) but neither will throw in the running boards. How long should I hold out ? My wife really wants the lighted running boards...
