In speaking with an Acura/Honda dealership owner, he felt the incentives will NOT get better due to tighter credit. Anyone else hear this?

I couldn't disagree more with the rationales listed for the liklihood of increasing / re-emerging incentives. SUV sales are down. So is SUV production. The purpose of incentives is to move excess inventory or to maintain minimum production levels. I haven't been able to find anything on Pilot inventories, but before you ASSUME that incentives will come back, you had better have some idea of inventory trends. Otherwise, all you are doing is waiting for the sake of waiting. Also, the effect of credit-tightening on incentives is unknown. On one hand, it makes AHFC's cost of credit higher, meaning that it is harder for them to offer special finance rates. On the other hand, it reduces sales because people can't get bank loans, increasing inventory. The big winner might be the cash buyer, or at least those with a large downpayment who can then easily qualify for a smaller loan and get a great deal in the process.

My local Honda dealer in Queens NY has a New 2005 Pilot EX-L w/Nav. Considering it's year and that it's new, what should I offer them for it? I think it's list is just over $34k Thanks.

These next few months are the most difficult time for the auto market. With many people concentrating on the Holiday season, sales are down. If the dismal September sales are any indication of the downward trend,October, and November should follow the same pattern.

I also live in NY and I know all the dealers. This may be a bait and switch tactic to get you into the showroom.

They finally told me they do have it. It is also on their website inventory. Haven't actually seen it yet though. Any idea what I should offer?

Of course a test drive is needed before any offer is offered. In EBay Motor I found a 2005 Pilot in "New" section which is in NY. However this car has lots of mileage. It should be a mistake. Honda : Pilot EX 2005 Honda Pilot EX NEW Location: Woodside, New York 2005 48,631 MILES $30,670.00
