There is the 2.9%, but that has been going on for a few days already. Or did they remove that option?

Not 100 accurate. Pilots might not have the cash incentive but I am sure it will be back after the 2008 inventories are gone. Honda does have special financing (see below) thru November and beyond since I do not see selling pilots like hot cakes.
Ad:
"Special AHFC A.P.R. financing available on all new 2009 Pilot models. 0.9% APR financing for 24-36 months or 2.9% APR financing for 37-60 months available to customers who qualify for the AHFC Super Preferred credit tier. Example for 2009 Pilot: 0.9% for 36 months financing at $28.16 a month for every $1,000.00 financed. Dealers set actual vehicle sales prices. See participating dealers for details. For well qualified buyers. Not all buyers may qualify. Higher rates apply for buyers with lower credit ratings.

Offer valid from 9/3/2008 through 11/3/2008, on new and unregistered 2009 Pilot Models and only on approved credit by Honda Financial Services through participating dealers. Honda Financial Services' standard credit criteria apply. Example for 2009 Pilot: 0.9% for 36 months financing at $28.16 a month for every $1,000.00 financed. See dealer for details. Dealers set actual prices. Limited time only."

You're correct. I didn't see that they extended the special APR through 11/03. Sorry for any confusion. I stand corrected.

I already got my Pilot, so I may be a bit biased, however...

When I was looking for one in late August / early September, out of the 4 Honda dealers I went to, only 1 had any 2008 Pilots left, terrible selection too (no EX-L or Touring). Maybe in other markets (I'm in St. Louis) that may not be the case, but over here, 2008 models are virtually gone.

I hope for other interested buyers the incentive will come back soon; personally I wouldn't hold my breath until next month. Hondanews also list Pilot sales as the second least declining compared to September year-ago; if Honda wants to provide incentive, they would be better off giving it to other models (Odyssey for instance) - again this is just conjecture on my part.

On a side note, I got my pilot at the last day of the incentive and we did 2.9% financing (which was the lowest financing available then); two weeks later, the dealer called and said that he can give the 0.9% financing, so that was pretty sweet

I do believe there will be more incentives coming down the pipe. The overall sales nor the reviews of the pilots are very bright. Here is the disclosed news avout sales:

Keep in mind that declining sales figures will only result in increased incentives if they are unexpected and therefore there is overproduction, or if production levels are fixed. Most of Honda's plants aren't strapped with the same fixed cost ratios of the Big 3, and therefore they can and have scaled back production to meet demand. If supply and demand remain in alignment, pricing does not change. Basic economics folks!!!

Thanks! This was VERY informative.

Now there's something that I still can't get my head around... Why did Honda offer cash incentives on the '09 Pilots right out of the gate??
