you are right. its hard to get a good deal in NC raleigh area due to one automotive group (L..) monopoly.
I have been researching on 2008 pilot since april and finally got it from out of state with $5000 off below invoice and $0 processing fee. In triangle area it was $4000 below invoice plus $398 processing fee(rip off).
exl 2wd are not available with most of the dealer but you can get EXL 4WD or SE 2WD/4WD.
I can send you more details about dealership etc. if you are ready to make a 5 hour drive. i finalized my price on internet and phone and there was absolutely no surprise when i went there. i was little doubtful about it since it was so simple and clear but the whole process of smooth and i got the car with temp tag and got it registered in NC with out any problem.

CONGRATS!!! Thats the way it should be. When purchasing over the interent you should have all of the information before you even arrive at the dealership. It make you job and the dealers job so much easier
Thank you for sharing your price and experience.

Hi jsmith22...Hope you can help. Can you send me info on your deal and your dealership contacts? I've been searching for a good deal on an 08 4WD (SE/EX/EXL) and the dealers here in the northeast haven't been great with aggressive pricing. I am willing to travel. See my profile for my email address. Thanks!!

What's the best lease for a 3 yr 12k miles/yr 2009 Honda Pilot EX? I'm seeing 430/mn with not much down, and I wanted to know if anyone had seen better.

This is exactly what I am looking for. I test drove 09 touring model with RES on Saturday in Sacramento. We offered $35,000 to dealer which was right at his invoice. He would ONLY consider $38,500. The car had been driven by the owner of the lot and already had 800 miles on it as well. We said no thanks. We will wait until the prices drop a bit.
It was a beautiful car and I am definitely going to get one but not at msrp.

If you're in MA, I'll suggest you try Commonwealth Honda. Our salesman was John (really nice guy). They have a matching policy and might be able to give you a better price They are also very respectful of their customers and won't pressure you into buying right then and there (like Boch does). They won't even tell you "this is valid only if you finance with us" (like Boch does). Another thing, are you sure Boch will honor this offer? In our experience their offers are valid until you walk out of the lot, no time to compare, think about it, etc. Commonwealth honored the offer they had given us a week before. We went back to them because, even though Boch matched Commowealth's offer (after not believing anyone was giving that price about 2 wks after the car was out), they really lowballed (is that even a word?) us in our trade in... $800 for a $3500 trade-in valued car (don't even get me started). IT took a while to "find" the person to give us the car keys and my husband license when we wanted to walk out of their "deal"!! When we were finally "allowed" to leave they came back with a $2500 value. We told them to stick it... They called us back within a week offering to negotiate again, it was a real pleasure to tell them that we already had the car Commonwealth gave us 3K for our trade, right off the bat..something acceptable to us. And they make us a deal right of the bat too for the Pilot... no one else in MA was even trying at the time! We did financed with them, only because the also dropped half a point on our CU rate
To answer your question, that sounds like a really good deal to my right now (we got about 3800 under MSRP over a month ago)... I'll jump on checking the matching (or better) Commomwealth can give you

Forgot to mention that the 3800 off was for the Touring w/Nav & Res. Love it!

The best price I found on a 2wd 09 touring with res is $35,686.00, including destination charge, pin stripes, and splashguards. It's listed on ebay, here is the link: Click Here.
