Just got a 2008 4x4 EX-L RES yesterday from a Honda Dealer in Fairfax, VA. Had been emailing for a week to many detailers. This one had pretty good price but also the dreaded "appearance package" for $495. They did not have any interest in working with me on removing the appearance package, so I moved on in my quest (electronically walked out of the dealership). Miraculously, 24 hours later I got an email that indicated the first 5 purchasers the following day would get $500 off the already quoted special internet price. Quoted price was 27327 plus: $385 processing fee $635 destination fee $495 appearance package (profit) Less $500 first 5 buyers discount (removal of appearance package profit) Real price: 27,957 + TTL They had other 08's left in a several trims, but like everywhere, not many colors to choose from. Fairly decent experience, took about 2 hours. Only feedback I gave business manager at end was that I had been handed a form to fill out indicating that it was required information. I told salesman I would not fill it out as it was a credit application (employment/resident history, release to check credit, salary made, etc). and the salesman indicated we had to. I indicated I wouldn't, he said he would have to ask boss if it was OK not to fill out. My take is that they want to see if they can/will offer you their financing, so they run the credit report on you. I had financing. This volley was not contentious at all, but I bet ALOT of people just fill out that form without questioning it. They offered me $200 for my 96 AWD Explorer XLT (Trade in TMV of 1000, NADA of 1500), and did not want to move up much from that, so I did not trade in. Thanks for info on this board. |
