I assume FWD since you are in TX? Invoice is $29,651 less $3,500 incentive is $26,151 or $346 less than your price. I would say you should be able to do better based on what others are able to get. Seems like the 3 that are close could compete to sell you the Pilot and the end of the month is 8 days away. So I would hit all of them again the last couple of days of the month and see if they will drop the price to move just one more Pilot. They get all of hold back ($650 or so for this model) and the $346, so there is a good deal they could drop the price and still be OK.

That assumes your price includes the dealer's doc or prep fee, if not then you are pretty far from a nice deal.

Thanks, Dennis.

You're correct, this is a FWD.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Keep in mind, not all dealers will deal cheap. My local dealers, for example, would never offer a price down into hold back or even every close to invoice. We saved a lot of money (but had to do some driving) to get our Pilot from an out of state dealer.

While waiting for the end of the month, I would widen your search arc and see if you can find a dealer farther from home willing to make you a nicer deal now. What could it hurt? If you get a price into the hold back, go get it. If not, then you can always hit the closer dealers and month's end. How far to Shreveport? I have been told Holmes Honda has nice prices, but never did any business with them.

Actually I just finished purchasing a Honda Pilot EX-L (2WD) in Houston TX. Actually its from Goodson Honda North.

The drive out price with window tint, cross bars, protection package, wheel locks and splash guards is $ 27400. Here is the breakdown

Price : 25200
Sales Tax (6.25%) = 1575
Acessories: 625
Total: 27400

If i did not opt for the accessories drive out is 26775

I did very hard negotiating with all the dealers in Houston TX.

Is Houston now considered "North Texas" now ?

Nice deal, in any case. I didn't say you could not get good deals now, just that the person asking could not get any from THEIR local dealers. Sounds like they need to drive down from north Texas to Houston for their Pilot....

1) Look up invoice
2) Take off $3,500 or $2,500 incentive (the VP model you want is just $2,500)

If you can get a price for the Pilot, destination, and dealer fee at or below that number then you have a nice deal.

There is 2% hold back (some say 3%, but that is too high) so if you take that off of invoice less incentive that would be the dealer makes no money (in theory) price. Anything is possible, invoice less incentive is reasonable as is a dip into some of the hold back.

Gas hit $4 a gallon in CA today I see on the news and my wife is paying $50 + for every fill up in her Pilot (it is not $4 here, yet). The dealers and Honda should be willing to do anything to move the guzzlers off the lot .

You need to sell it to a private party. I do not see you getteng a good deal from the dealer since they need to make money out of your resale.
