You could always have your local dealer call or contact the one that sent me the e-mail. I outlined in the previous post that it was Holmes Honda in Des Moines, IA. Do a quick google search to find their web page and contact info. You could even go as far to say that you have family in Des Moines that would purchase the car and ship/drive it out to you if the price difference is that dramatic. I don't know how much it costs to ship a vehicle, but I don't think it would be more than $200 or so. Worth a shot at least. Good luck!

Schomp Honda offered 4WD ex-l w/ NAV for 31,280 and with RES 31,680. I walked again. I just have no luck with Honda dealers. After the Colorado State tax credit of over $4000 for a $35,000 plus tax 08 Highlander Hybrid it dose not make much sense to buy a Pilot until they cost closer to $29,000. The Highlander comes with rear camera which all my wife wants anyway and gets way better MPG. I can do without leather seats and already have a portable NAV. So, looks another Toyota for me to match my 08 Camary Hybrid.

$28k for an EX-L w/Nav is not a realistic price right now - as invoice is $32,905. Then take off the $3,500 dealer money and all of hold back and you can't get to $28,000;

That said, I put in a Denver ZIP code in carsdirect.com and the price comes up $30,307 which is a lot better than what you were quoted. Might be worth a follow up with them to see who the dealer is that is offering that. You SHOULD be able to do at least invoice less $3,500 but if no area dealer will go that low then you either have to travel, pay what they want, or get something else.

I believe Dennis is a forum moderator. In case you had not taken notice this is a Honda forum.

I just got another quote from a dealer in the Omaha, Nebraska area that is $29,892.14 for a 2008 Honda Pilot 4WD EX-L w/Navi in Nimbus Grey Metallic. I'm waiting on confirmation that the price is an out the door price, but i'm thinking that i'm not going to find much better around here, that and they actually have the Nimbus Grey color available. Most dealers do not seem to have that color on hand. The internet sales rep also said that they ARE doing the 3.9% for 37-60 months W.A.C. I wish it was less, but 3.9% is pretty good.

So as it turns out, there really are no Nimbus Grey 4WD EX-L w/Nav available within about 200 or so miles from us. I just got a call back now from the original dealership (our preferred one that offered $33,500 originally) and they came back with $29,800 with no accessories, which is what we asked for. I think i've found my deal, although we're going to end up getting Black instead of Nimbus Grey. Setting up an appointment for either Monday night or Tuesday afternoon to go talk numbers regarding trade-in. For those interested, the one Nimbus Grey Pilot available I mentioned is a bit south of Kansas City. We could get it, but the dealer said it'd cost close to $400 and thats a deal breaker. Black it is

Nope. Just a car nut - and currently the lessee of a new Pilot for my wife.

You could contact the dealer that has it and see what kind of price they could make you on it. If you can come to terms with them you could drive over and get it, fly over and drive it back, or pay a car hauler to bring it to you. I have done all three and the car hauler can be very reasonable if you use an open (non-enclosed) haul and let them do it at their convenience.

In the end you should try to get what you want in the color you prefer, if you can.

But also a good lesson to those that want to wait and see if the incentives will get larger and the deals cheaper. They could, but if you want certain model and color you may have to take your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th choice the longer you wait.

I drove 240 miles to get the deal I wanted. You could get a one way rental from Avis (or other rental place) for about $110 if you couldn't find anyone to ride with you and drive your car back. Just a suggestion. Also I wouldn't turn in the rental car till your deal was official.
