Thanks for the Congrats!

My price before sales tax was $28,204. I got my Pilot, which I failed to mention before, at Planet Honda in Matteson, IL.

I was originally looking at an EX-L WITHOUT Navi, and the lowest internet quote I got for that was $26,417.04 at The Honda Superstore of Joliet. Planet said they would match that price, so I went with them since they are closer to me.

The more I thought about it though I changed my mind and decided to get Navigation for the rear-view camera. If I had just wanted Navi, I guess I could've gone with a Tom Tom or Garmin, etc. and not spend $2000 more. The camera sold it for me plus it was still in my budget of $30K. I also love the XM radio which is included for 90 days.

I'm assuming they probably meant mud guards.

We made a deal today on an 08 2wd EXL, no nav or DVD. I am in Kansas City. We paid $26,300 plus $199 doc fee. TTL is paid at the DMV, so not included in sales price.
We used Tiffany Honda here, and they were good to deal with. I would have bought the car from the internet department at Oneill, but they only had 4wd, and we wanted 2wd. Oneill emailed me the lowest quote as I had on my initial request. Would have been a breeze, if they had the car I wanted. Had to work to get the same price at Tiffany, but they did it without too much hassle.
Good experience with both places.

Definitely not mud guards, but I will let you know when I pick up the car tomorrow...

Spend 10 minutes studying the sales brochure - the differences are spelled out in the chart at the back. IIRC, the biggest one is that the EX has a power driver's seat.

The current incentive runs through 3/3. For good pricing see post #10569. They REALLY want to move these things.

From the post#10569, I can smell the incentive after 3/3 could be $4500, I can be wrong any way. The worse scenario is Honda still keeps current $3500 without any other promotion, but since gas is going up, stock&economy is down, the 2009 pilot is coming very soon, I can't believe that would happen.

I guess post 3/3 promotion could be
$4000/$4500 cash back
or $3500 + 2.9% APR for 36 to 60 months.

Any other input/thoughts?

I think the tightrope Honda is trying to walk is to discount them enough to move them, but not so much it hurts their legendary resale value. Every discount hurts that resale. Of course I could be hoping that because I went ahead and pulled the trigger today and would hate to find out I could have waited a week and saved another $1000.

the price I paid is $26.699, including destination fee, $75 for title and doc fee. The dealer is Pauly Honda in North Chicago. A dealer in Highland park would like to match the price, but don't want to beat the price. But Pauly Honda is closer to me. I know the price is not the best one here, but I thing it is a good one. Hopefully the information is useful. Good luck, everyone

Did you get a GOOD price at the time of purchase? by slamtaz

If your answer is YES, then you should feel good about it already and try not to blow your mind thinking that you could've gotten a better deal if you waited long enough!

The KEY WORDS here, i guess, are "could've" and "if"... those are things we'll never know at the present time when we did our purchase. except of course if you're a "risk taker" and willing to gamble on getting a lower price (500-1000 lower than it is at present) at the risk of losing the entire 3,500 entirely, plus... you should remember that they're clearing out, or doing mopping-up operations, on the 08 Pilots meaning stocks are dwindling and choices are getting limited as you prolong your decision. Definitely, there are those who'll be able to deal it at the sweetest spot but that is more of an exception than a rule...

The question now is... DEAL or NO DEAL?

peace out

I think it's very unlikely to lose the entire $3500 very soon, this deal cash may not be gone if not more until the new 2009 model become avaliable in dealer's parking slot, Honda may not be willing to put that amount dealer cash on 2008 to compete their own 2009 model.

But the choice is dwindling, that's absolutely true.
