I believe he's referring to the direct ignition cassette (I think that's the name). It's the module that goes on top of the spark plugs--no spark plug wires on a Saab. These are problematic and expensive to fix.
I'm 99% certain, though, that this was one of the major fixes on the new 9-3s--each plug has its own DIC. You only have to replace one if it goes bad instead of the whole bank.
Other more knowledgable users may jump in to give you better info, but I'm pretty sure the above is correct.

Oh heck, no! There's a LOT of interest. We're just closing up the "future" discussion on this board because it's no longer a future vehicle -- it's here. We'll just join other Saab 9-3 entusiasts in the Saab 9-3 topic over on the Sedans board.

Precisely. Now that the 2003 is the Saab 9-3, there is no need for a separate 2003 9-3 board in future vehicles. The future is here.
