1998 accord coupe tranny problem by ricobill

I am trying to find out if honda has come up with a solution to the tcc solenoid problem or if it is in fact a bad tranny, my car is shifting horribly and the check engine light just came on. we checked the codes and the tcc solonoid code came up. also we saw that the motor mounts were all pretty bad. are the mounts a direct result of the tranny shifting problems? I am wonddering if honda has extended the warranty to this year tranny?

V6 vs 4 cylinder by smckdwn989

I really have my heart set on the 2008 EXL v6 coupe, but with the price of gas and my desire to have more manageable payments I am considering a 4 cylinder coupe. Is the 190HP 4 cylinder still as fun to drive as the 6? Is it more than enough power, or is the 6 just more fun? I figure with lease payments already up there, I should just get the car I want, but when i factor in all of the extra costs, i wonder if it's really worth it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

some of it is really not a fair comparison. however, my son has a 2004 accord coupe, EX-L,V6, 6M and recently drove my daughter's new 2008 accord coupe EX-L I4, 5A. obviously pick up is better, but he wasn't sure how much of that was manual vs. auto - he said that the 190hp feels very good compared to his V6. he has also been hypermiling with his car lately and has been averaging 28+ mpg; compared to his sister's I4, which (with her lead foot) has been averaging 28+ also. he likes the styling of the new coupe, felt leather, stereo, etc. are good - but not much better than his 4 year older car; and is jealous that his sister has the navi, which he didn't (he had the choice of going with the V6 or navi and he wanted the V6). but, he also said he wouldn't trade his car for his sister's

A new car over $27K for an 18 year old? It's sad that most of us started with cars well over 5 years old and even the rich kids didn't have new vehicles. That was back in the '70s and '80s.

Funny thing is that now I make enough money to get a son or daughter a car that expensive, but I'd never do it!

If it's the price of gas holding you back from the V6 versus the V4, then it's really a non issue. They get about the same mileage. From what I've been reading the V4's are only getting about 24-26mpg. On my brand new V6 (EXL) I've been averaging 27mpg mixed hwy/city. Every tank is improving by a slight bit too. I'm just shy of getting 28mpg now (bought the car in late March)

I had the V6 1998, bought it in March of the year it first came out (new body style). I loved that car but just traded it in this past March for the new V6 exl with navi. I had to decide between replacing the tranni on the 1998 with a rebuilt from Honda or buy the new car. I opted for trading it in because I've been hearing tons of problems with that tranni and figured if I bought the rebuilt, I'd still have problems down the road. My 1998 did the same exact thing you're talking about. I even had it towed 2 times and by the time they got it to the repair shop, it was working fine. The problem would come & go. It was weird! But being stuck on the side of the road 2 times was enough for me. It was hard to part with that car, but I'm falling in love with the new 2008.

LOL!! So true!!

My Accord Coupe is the 1st Non Mopar vehicle I have ever owned. There are a few things I would change if I were Honda, navi should be standard in all vehicles!
Seats could really use a little upgrade they are a nice leather but on long trips. The standard radio w/XM needs a little help also.

The car seems to have pep for a V6. I like the roomy feel of the inside. The style of the car is best in class. Like I said I am a Loooong time Mopar owner but the Accord Coupe beat the Sebring.

The mileage is a little vexing at an avg speed of 65 in my Dodge Magnum I can get 24 mi hwy.(5.7 l.) I don't like the fact that other Accord owners by reading some of their posts are only getting an avg of 29.

I know apples to oranges but "Maggie" out weighs "Ally"

08 Accord EX-L Coupe Extreme rough ride by smok10

I picked up my new EX-L Coupe 3 weeks ago and it rides like a Mack Truck, you feel every crack in the road, every pot hole patch etc. I went over a railroad crossing and my teeth rattled. This is the worse riding Honda I've owned or ridden in. Anyone experiencing this problem??? I'm happy with everything else (so far). If this is normal I will be getting rid of it reguardless of what it will cost me. Thanks for all responses.
PS when I test drove the car with the salesman he directed the route, I didn't think anything about it then, maybe I should have been suspicious then.......

Can't speak for the 08 coupe, as I have a 06 V6 coupe and the ride is about the same as you described. Very firm, almost harsh ride. I too did not notice this when on a test drive as I was on mostly smooth pavement. Did not notice til a couple of days after driving it. You didnt state whether you have the 4 or 6 cylinder as I have heard that the 4 cylinder provides a somewhat smoother ride as my V6 sits on 17 inch rims with 50 series tires which contributes some what to the ride quality. Its the only think I dislike about the car as everything else is fine. Was going to drop the car on Eibach Pro-kits to get rid of the excessive wheel well gap but that would only worsen the ride quality so it is not worth the trade off. So yes, it seems this is a characteristic of 7th and 8th generation Accords. Kind of a shame as this is a quality vehicle ruined by ride quality.
