Yes, I have seen the Pilot with the brush guard. Not very handsome at all. I have been a Honda fan for 20 years and have owned about 10 of them (Accords and Civics mostly). I love Honda for their powertrains, but it's always been interesting to me how conservative they are with their styling. I think they are afraid of cannibalizing Acura sales so they seem to hold back on the Honda styling.

The Pilot is a nice ride, but I think it can be a much better looking vehicle. The Ridgeline is also butt ugly in the front, IMO. But maybe the typical Honda owner is conservative and their market research tells them to make their vehicle styling as uninspiring and non-controversial as possible???

Neither the Pilot nor the MDX are especially handsome vehicles to me. They're not bad, but neither are they inspiring. I think the TSX and TL are good looking cars. The RL is okay, but a bit conservative. The current Accord looks very dated compared to the new Camry, and even next to the updated Altima. I think the new Civic sedan is somewhat homely, but the coupe is okay. The interior of the coupe pushes the envelope, but I wonder if it will have staying power, even if it may have a short term "cool" factor. I like the center tach, but the digital speedo is a little funky. It works better in the S2000 than it does in the Civic. But for the most part, I do like Honda interiors. I love the interior of the RL.

Time for Honda to sharpen their pencils with the exterior styling of their upcoming models. The new MDX concept is promising, and the next Accord should be sleeker and more sporty. The next Accord coupe will hopefully be sharp-looking, especially since there is no longer a CL to compete against it. Fingers crossed.

1998 Accord Coupe V6 Transmission Failure by florida888

I am aware that Honda has extended its warranty to cover transmission failure in year 1999-2000+ Accords, but am searching for any information on whether Honda will repair a tranmission failure for a 1998 V6 Coupe since its only a year prior to the covered years. I have spoken to Honda America and was given an address to which I could mail the "Research Dept" a letter describing my problem and ask them to extend the warranty to my car. Has anyone had any success on getting Honda to cover the costs of repairing or replacing their failed 1998 transmission, since this seems like a common and ongoing problem with Hondas?

I'm curious. How many miles have you put on your car?

heavy steering/firm ride by oldmansi

I have a 06 EX V6 coupe auto trans. Is it me or what cuz the steering on this car is VERY heavy. Also, ride is firm, almost TOO firm. Must be the 17 inch wheels but you can feel the bumps and the steering feels as tho there is no power to it, almost like the old days of manual steering. Not really a big deal but was wondering what others think about it. Guess I won't be lowering this car as ride quality will go right out the window.

Interesting that you find the steering heavy in your coupe.

I have an 04 EX-L sedan, and I find the steering is too light. It's really annoying when driving a curvy road one handed.

Took this car out twice before I bought it and never really noticed it. Must be the revised suspension bushings and 17 inch wheels. Anyone with an 06 V6 coupe or sedan experience the same condition?

Mr. bill - thanks for reply

i do think the ride is firm ('06 6-spd sedan), but that's why it can handle so well. Besides, I'm not a fan of soft-riding cars.

I don't find the steering too heavy, but, then again, I've only had sporty cars the past 7 years, so maybe its just something I'm used to. I find the steering in my wife's SUVs too light.

I also like a firm ride but this borders on TOO firm. Its not really a big deal but its mostly the heavy steering. But yes, handling is decent for a car that weights over 3300 lbs. Maybe I am just used to driving lighter cars with lighter steering like my 2000 Civic SI. That car is lowered a little over an inch and ride quality is just slightly harsher than stock. Hey, maybe its just me.

Well, sure, a heavier car will need to be more tightly sprung to produce similar handling to a lighter car (typically). Considering the weight difference, the fact that your accord achieved skidpad numbers VERY close to your Si (.84 vs .82, according to C&D), its not surprising.

Honda could have boosted the steering more, but, honestly, then you'd probably hear complaints of it being "numb" and "unsporty."

There is just no pleasing everybody. As long as you continue to be happy with the car, that's all that matters.
