We have an early production PT GT Conv. It does NOT have the visor with the openers. It does state on the web site that it was a late production feature. You can order it and install it from many PT accessory places online or thru the dealer. As long as your visor has an illuminated light in it...there is power there to use on the new visor. I got prices of around $159.00

We have 3 garage doors and have this option in other cars so it is well worth it for us. I only found out about it from your post so thanks...and I hope I helped....

Yes, I have seen this on my 2003 GT. Especially when starting out in the morning on overcast days. Not dark, but dim light. The dashlights flicker all the time! At first I thought I was having eye problems. I don't notice this when it is dark.

My other electrical problem is when after driving over 500 miles, I brake. The left rear window goes down, and will not go back up.

I have had a battery replace as well. Went out one morning to the garage and it was completely dead. Wouldn't even turn over. Had not left the lights or other accessories on, or unusually cold, etc.

Rough idle and power drop on downshift by 5deano6
Aug 15, 2005 (2:22 pm)
I have a 04 GT, standard shift. It has about 4500 miles. I only have a couple small complaints but was wondering if anybody else noticed these. Every once in a while, when I downshift from 5th to 4th, the engine almost feels like it has died. I end up pushing on the gas much more than I would normally expect just to get it to accelerate in 4th gear. It does not buck or surge, just seems like it has really lost power. It does not do this in any other gear. The other thing I have noticed is a slight "miss" at idle. Not enough to rattle the car but my wife even noticed it.
Thanks

Can't imagine what you are talking about shifting down to 4th except -- let the clutch out and it won't be at an idle rpm anymore. I always shift down to help slow down and charge the alternator saving brake pads. Never noticed that, in fact it's the opposite when you let the clutch out. The low idle is simply saving fuel-- not a lack of power.

My idle at stop signs has alway been a little rough. 4 cylinder turbos tend to do this.

bought a 05 gt convert. in april 05. have 12000 on it now. plenty of power but no hook-up with stock goodyear 205/50-17's. went to falken 451 215/45's... quite a bit better grab. fuel m.p.g. is consistantly 20-22. best 28 cruising thru utah around 60-65mph. auto stick is fun but glad to have fully auto mode which is used 90% of the time.have instlled k&n filter and eliminated the muffler;throaty but not obnoxious... my most enjoyable toy!

Tire/Wheel Size vs Rough Ride by pankoeb
Jul 12, 2006 (6:44 am)
I've got a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser GT with original equipment Goodyear Eagle RS-A 205/50HR17 93H which are too rough riding; wheels are 17x6 Aluminum Chrome Clad.
Whereas PT Cruiser Limited and Touring models use the 16x6 Aluminum Chrome Clad with 205/55R16 89T.
The 17" wheels have limited tire size options and availability is scarce. The 16" wheels will allow more tire choices, but will the 16" wheels be an ok replacement on my 04 PT GT, or will the GT Sport Suspension or brakes get in the way??

I have a 03 gt and after several inquires found that MB wheels make a 16 that works. They just barely clear the front breaks. The clearance was so close that I pulled the front wheels off and filed down the casting marks for additional clearence. I've lived with them for about a year and like them a lot. they also weigh 17.5 lbs per wheel less mounted with 215x55 Hankook k106 tires. I had the chroam gt 17's with 205x 50 Goodyears. The MB's and K106 are a really good up grade. Much better ride and wear quality. The over all circumfrance is almost identical, so you wont have a loss of performance with this switch. I bought the MB spark and was pleasantly surprised at how much better the look over stock. My gt is black and that is reflected in all the added reflected sufaces. Makes the calipers look beautiful. Good luck.

2004 PT GT: 17 vs 16 inch wheels and tires by pankoeb
Sep 26, 2006 (8:29 pm)
I've got a 2004 PT GT with the original 17x6 inch chrome wheels and Goodyear Eagle RS-A 205/50-HR17 93H tires, but the ride is unbearably hard and uncomfortable, plus equivalent replacement tires are difficult to find in that size. Does anyone know if the 16x6 inch chrome wheels and 205/55R16 89T tires that are standard on other PT models will fit the GT? I've gotten conflicting responses from both the Chrysler dealers and the tire manufacturers. Aside from any performance issues, I'm interested in whether or not the other PT model standard 16x6 inch wheels will actually fit the PT GT; specifically, will they clear the front brake calipers, plus other brake and suspension parts? I believe that the 16 inch wheels offer many more tire options and likely a better ride. Anyone had experience with swapping the PT GT 17x6 wheels with the 16x6 wheels? Thanks, pankoebverizon.net

Intercooler mods by blkgt
Sep 26, 2006 (9:18 pm)
I own a 03 PTGT and I've noticed a lot of expansion on my intercooler to throttle body hose when the engine rpms rise. Seems to me that this would reduce air density and lower the performance of the turbo. Also has any one added a catch can to their PTGT. If so are you pleased with the mod. and cost. I'm also planning to add a waste gate. any advice? Recent mods. Heart throb 2&1/2" duals. K&N filter. Jet Chip. Light wt chroam 16's, down from 17 chroam GT wheels. 215x55's front 225x55's rear. Mini antena, sound deadening. spare tire, heat shield. Like all the changes. The Jet chip is marginal.Pretty expensive for hard to find gains. I can run 87 octaine on a regular basis with no noticable pre ignition. And my mpg on 87 is slightly better than 91. But their is noticably more power when I use 91. Before the addition of the chip I could not use 87 with out pinging after the engine reached normal operating temp and driving semi quickly. The wheels and tire combo saved 70lbs.
