Also skip the upfront extended warranty, they will be happy to sell it to you when your 4yrs is almost up and by that time you'll know if your car is a dog. |

Just curious about the extended warranty, is it more expensive to get it 4 years down the line as opposed to now? When I had my S40 and wanted to add another year to it just 2.5 years into the car, Volvo quoted me $1400 for that extra year which I'm sure wasn't as much initially. If you are interested in an extended warranty, Tim over at HondaAcuraWorld sells genuine Honda/Acura Warranties for much less than dealer and at least from its webpage, you can purchase it before you hit 6k on the odometer. http://www.hondacuraworld.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=AC- -MDX-EW-00&Category_Code=WARR Bernardi Warranty has it for bit cheaper than HondAcuraWorld but their website won't let those of us in CA purchase them for whatever reasons, but I read in other forums you can just call in and they'll do it over the phone. I was looking at 7 years 100k which comes to $1585 (Hondacuraworld), not bad, about a grand less than the dealership. I do plan on keep the car for a long time but after reading all the write-ups on extended warranties for high reliability brands such as Acura, I'm still not sure whether I should do this or get some new granite for my kitchen.....

Replying to: wai_ster (Jan 17, 2009 7:33 am) My tactic in getting my price was simply emailing several dealerships and saying that I had been reading in several forums people were getting 08 MDX techs for 35.5k and to see if they could do that price. 2 of my initial 4 said they could so I had that in writing and even though it didn't work out with those initial dealerships, I was still able to take that quote a month later to Pleasanton who then offerred me the 08 tech at $100 more and since they gave me $2000 more for my trade in than any other dealership (or private seller for that matter), I took it. If you really like Oakland for their service (and I really liked them but they didn't have new 08 techs when I was there last month), then email competitive Acuras with a price you want to pay, back it up with relatively verifiable claims (edmund forums, acuramdx.org forums, etc.) and when they say yes, bring that quote to Raquel for a chance to beat or meet. Good luck!

Just wanted to thank everyone who posts here.....this forum saved me a good bit of money w/ my 09 base. I probably could have saved another $500 if I had waited another couple weeks, since they are now offering the cash incentive....unfortunatley I couldn't wait. Submit your prices paid at realcartips.com Thanks again and Good Luck! |

I can't figure out why anyone would want a $100 deductible warranty, as you are worse off if you use it two times. Make sure you call or e-mail Tim for the accurate prices. Mark

Test drove a '09 MDX and absolutely love it!! Of course, I sat down afterwards and got an initial quote of $48K w/ tech and entertainment package (includes TTL). No thanks!! Guess they don't realize how many of us educate ourselves on Edmund's. Looked online at a dealership in Sarasota that still has quite a few new '08 MDX's. Also noticed the $4000 cash to dealer incentive Edmund's has listed. With this incentive are you able to reduce the negotiated price another $4K? Also, if anyone has any experience w/ good deals in Florida please let me know. I'm willing to drive just about anywhere in FL or even GA to get a good deal.
