I am looking to buy a new MDX with min of tech package. The local dealer has them listed for 44,960- 45,600 model year dependent. They have about 6 2008s on the lot. Wondering what you all think would be a good deal and what price I should start at. I am willing to travel a little within the TN/ KY area for the right price. Thanks for your help. email is 10beers

I need some help from you all. I've bought one new car in my 41 years - a 2006 MDX Base model. I didn't haggle with the price - I was too green. Well, I'm still green... I want to trade in my MDX for an 08 Tech model. The listing price for those doesn't seem to be under $40k in my area. So, the thought of getting one for $36k seems impossible. I really want to get a good deal, but need a lot of tips. Can you help? Thanks in advance!

I've read as much as I can over the past week. Thank you all for your posts. Normally, I have more time to do research but due to certain circumstances, I am under the gun to make a purchase. That said, I am looking at the MDX Basic. My question is this: mdxrrrr mentioned above that you shouldn't pay more than $36K (plus Tax title) for an 2008 MDX w/ Tec, PTG. The MSRP, including Destination, for that car is $45,005, invoice at $40,946 according to edmunds. So, mdxrr is saying that you can get it for about $5k under invoice. Now, I want the 08 MDX Basic. The MSRP is $40,995, and invoice at $37,724. Using the above model by mdxrrr as a reference point, do you guys think I can get the Basic for 32,774 $5k under invoice)? If I just told them, "Look, I'll give you $32K for it.", would I be insulting them or would that be in the ballpark? Thanks in advance.

Back in early sept I got an email offer from a dealer in orange county CA Base 32574 Tech + PTG 36246 over the phone we agreed on $500.00 less for any car in stock. Salesman kept his word when we reach there. I decided on Tech + PTG.. Went in there.. bought the car and was out in few hours... No negotiations were done at the dealership.. Only final test drive... etc. 35746 + 70 doc fee + TTL = 38880 OTD in California If I would have gone with base it would be 32074 + 70 + TTL |

$32k is totally a fair offer in my mind for base... In fact, someone in the post already had posted such a buy if I recall correctly... Also, I actually had read all the posts since late September to set a target price for myself. Just in case it helps others, here is some of the low and high price points I had seen before on this post in one summary view. 2008 MDX Model Low High Target Price Base $32,000 $33,000 $32,500 Tech $35,000 $35,500 $35,500 Tech+PTG $36,000 $36,200 $36,000 Tech+Entertainment $38,000 $38,800 $37,500 Sport $37,500 N/A $37,500 Sport+PTG $37,150 $38,500 $38,000 Sport+Entertainment $39,700 $39,500 You can also see the target price I had set for myself above using this data, and also keeping reasonable deltas between the different packages. I bought it at my target price and my recommendation after going through the buying process is starting $500 below that and ensure you do not pay any documentation / processing type fees except tax/ttl.

By the way, any recommendations on where to buy 08 MDX accessories cheap?

Replying to: jstbghtmdx (Nov 22, 2008 7:44 am) Here is a good site for the aftermarket MDX stuff. (The items the dealers try to include in your purchase price at full list price, plus their labor) If you are a little handy most of it can easily be installed by yourself. www.acurapartssuperstore.com Before you place your order, I would recommend calculating the total cost of having it shipped to your house, and then call your local Acura parts department and see if they will meet the price. Several local dealers will do that, esp, if you are ordering more than one accessory. The parts prices aren't written in stone, they have a margin too. |
