dc7900, nice work! I agree I will never buy another car without using this board, I tell all my friends, whatever kind of car they are looking for to go here first. I also agree that one shouldn't be afraid of paying an extra couple hundred bucks to get the color you want. The best advice I have heard regarding that is not to tip your hat to the dealer about the color you are looking for too early, esp. if it is a popular color that is hard to find.

hey bobross,

I wouldn't touch a demo. Especially with 9k on it. You don't know how that car has been ridden (no matter what they say) also, I thought the demos were limited to 5k. maybe that's just a toyota rule. about the leasing... I'm dumb on that subject - sorry.

2008 MDX Sport PTG by ejoyce423

What have others paid for a 2008 MDX Sport PTG? What should be our starting number when negotiating with a dealership in Delaware?

We have only once found a dealership in NJ willing to accept the 20% off MSRP offer although they did not have our desired color combination. We also found a dealership in Chevy Chase, MD willing to deduct the $4K incentive off his invoice and also cut deep into his holdback.

Exactly how would the 2% holdback and advertising fees be calculated? Do you think it would it be to our advantage to wait and negotiate a deal closer towards the end of the month (perhaps Black Friday)?

I am having a hard time even finding an 08 MDX. I live in the Philadelphia Pa area. Some dealer have them listed online in inventory, but when I contact them they are all gone. If anyone knows a dealer in the PA, NJ, DE area with 08s left please let me know.

I went to Acura dealer yesterday and the sales manager showed me the screen in the end for an 08 base model. It's around $800. So I guess it should be 2% of the MSRP.

I also saw someone posted $1,500 for the holdback. Don't know how it came from.

I am looking to buy a new MDX with min of tech package. The local dealer has them listed for 44,960- 45,600 model year dependent. They have about 6 2008s on the lot. Wondering what you all think would be a good deal and what price I should start at. I am willing to travel a little within the TN/ KY area for the right price. For an '08 MDX w/Tech, PTG, you should not pay more than $36,000 including all doc/adm fees & destination. The only money on top of the $36K would be tax & title/tag. I think someone else posted one about an Acura dealer somewhere in TN who was had a doc fee of $595. That is crazy. All the more reason to make sure when you give your offer to say your offer includes all their fees & charges. Let them write it up however they want. Good Luck.

Negotiating Help in Seattle by rn6700

I need some help from you all. I've bought one new car in my 41 years - a 2006 MDX Base model. I didn't haggle with the price - I was too green. Well, I'm still green... I want to trade in my MDX for an 08 Tech model. The listing price for those doesn't seem to be under $40k in my area. So, the thought of getting one for $36k seems impossible. I really want to get a good deal, but need a lot of tips. Can you help? Thanks in advance!
