Thanks for the message. You mention the 2009's will be out in a few weeks.
Does that mean mid-August? The deal I went to said the 2009's will not be here until late November at the earliest, probably Dec.
I have been doing some shopping, appears to be a ton of 2008's on the lot.
thanks!

I also brought my MDX from Raquel at Oakland Acura in Northern CA last weekend. My cash price was $2,700 below invoice and Honda Special Financing price was $1,200 below invoice.

I took the Special Financing at 0.9% for 36 months and keep my money in my Money Market earning 3%. The saving in interest over 36 months is approximately $3,000.

Yes, $2,500 below invoice. If you are going to offer $38,000, do it on a tech model, not a base one! Look at the post below yours: base model for $34,000.

Forget sites like costco, etc. Just take the invoice and subtract the rebate and go from there. You can buy your extended warranty from any Acura dealer, there are 2 dealers selling those online for cheaper, buy it from one of them (I forget their websites). I doubt your dealer will match their cost.

Listen to hodog16's advice. It all makes sense. The economy stinks (count your blessings that you are doing well), gas prices are very high, and auto sales, especially SUVs and trucks, are at the worst levels in decades. I believe that dealers of every brand would gladly unload every truck/SUV in their inventories for their rock bottom, below invoice price - no profit - and feel happy that they dodged financial ruin. Sales people still want to make commissions if at all possible, but dealership owners just want to manage their way through the current economic mess and survive. Take a look on-line at your local dealership's inventories. Local dealers in (financially healthy) northern VA have 100 - 250 MDX's on their lots, and they are doing better than domestic makers. It is THAT bad out there right now.

I just bought a 2008 MDX Entertainment and Tech package, $46,610 MSRP, $42,398 invoice, for $39,599 with no negotiating. That was the price the internet sales manager offered. I probably could have driven the price $500-$,1000 lower but didn't want to because the guy was so pleasant to deal with. BTW, Radley Acura in Arlington, VA.

Well, had a gruelling 2 hour session at my local Acura dealer last night. Finally agreed upon a price of 35,500 for the base model in white color that I wanted, but including an extra power train warranty of 7Yr/70,000 miles which was my sticking point. So, I have now the basic 4 yr/50,000 miles B-to-B warranty, plus 7Yr/70,000 miles power train. I don't know whether or not I got the best deal possible, but it seemed pretty good considering my needs. I did miss out on the 0.9% financing from Acura which had expired on 7/5, but I did go for the 1.9% for 3 years.

Now I have a need of a good quality car cover for my new MDX for outdoor use since the car will be outside until about Nov, when I make space for it in the garage. Any ideas of a source or brand?

Thanks for everyone's helpful ideas and tips, etc.

lpsshopper,
what's the name of the sales person at Radley? I'm shopping for MDX w/Technology, and willing to make a trip from Rockville, MD.

Thanks

Final price $40,849 not including taxes etc. in MA. It was a moderate negotiation but dealership was willing to deal.
