You have two options with incentives, $2,000 cash back with I believe 4.9% is the best available financing, or $1,000 cash back with Acura's 0.9/1.9% financing. The first deal expires 6/30 and the 2nd on 7/7. You cannot combine the two dealer incentives.

If you don't need financing, the most I would pay is invoice - rebate, I would start offering into the holdback (3% of MSRP I believe), which evidence from the past few pages shows others have gotten.

Depends on the dealer, some cut to the chase while others still give a high offer. I think once you show them you have done your homework they will start lowering their offer.

Congrat on your purchase! I also live in NorCal. Can you let me know which dealership and sales person did you work with? Thanks in advance.

I am in the DC area. I am looking at the MDX also. The two best quotes I have so far from Laurel for $34,500 for the base MDX and $34,719 from VA.

I see by your post that the dearship also get an additional 3% holdback off the MSRP. That is about $1200. Does that mean that the dealer may have an additional $1200 under the lowest price?

Also, it appears that, based on the large inventory, I should go for the 2.9% financing, too.

I also live in SoCal and I am in the market for a family car. I like the MDX tech package/PTG. I got a quote from Metro Acura for $42,400 OTD and a $500 gift card that can be used towards service expenses and or parts/accessory purchases. Is this a good deal? What have you found?

Is the 34,500 and 34,719 for an MDX Tech with Entertainment (DVD) package? or is it just the MDX Base only or MDX with Tech package ????

34500 is 475 above thier base including holdback, that is very low, are they not including dest charge? 34023 is base, holdback is 1206, 2000 rebate and 37229 is invoice.

Solid deal in NC by hodog16

As a frequent visitor/poster in this forum, I finally got a chance to go to the dealer and took advantage of it. I moved up from shopping for a base to a tech package because I was able to sell my old car (98 explorer) for $3,000 to a local used car lot. Decided to deal for the tech/PTG as the dealer had gotten one in 9 days ago with 7 miles on it and in my first choice color combo.

After initially offering in the mid $38,000's and listening to the dealer's soliloquy about how he wouldn't make money selling below invoice, I told him I'd buy if I got invoice - rebate + destination (40901 into 38901). They came back with an offer of $300 over mine ($39,201). After getting them to throw in wheel locks and all-weather mats (which I would have bought for $150+ from the internet anyway), I agreed.

Here are the details:
MSRP: $44,245
Price: $38,486
Destination: $715
NC Tax (3%): $1176.03
Doc fee: $398
Transfer plate: $55
OTD: $40,830.03

The kicker is I'm moving to Indiana very soon, where the state tax is 7%, so I didn't have the luxury of playing the game and walking out the door, etc. as it would have cost another $1600 for the exact same price just on taxes if I had waited a week to buy.

Anyway, good luck to the rest of y'all, I couldn't stop smiling on my drive home.

Hodog16 -
Curious to know where you got your deal? In the past, I have found that dealership here in NC have been tough to deal with. Thanks in advance for any information.

ncmdx: Got it from Performance in Chapel Hill. They were a little tough to deal with honestly initially, but I pointed to the salient facts (high inventory, decrease in 10-13% in sales compared to last year, gas prices, etc) and gave them a low offer on purpose initially to try to get as close to invoice - rebate as possible to meet in the middle so to speak.

From the internet quotes, Stevenson in Wilmington is useless (gave me an offer that was $1000 off MSRP! what a laugh), but Crown in Greensboro ($5500 off MSRP was their initial offer) and Flow in Winston-Salem ($5300 off) had some very competitive internet offers without even haggling, but they were ~2-3 hours round trip away so less convenient. Leith in Raleigh has the most inventory but their quotes were a little higher. Didn't bother with Leith in Fayetteville or Apple Tree in Fletcher as they were farther away and smaller in size.
