Depends on the dealer, some cut to the chase while others still give a high offer. I think once you show them you have done your homework they will start lowering their offer.

Does that mean that the dealer may have an additional $1200 under the lowest price? Also, it appears that, based on the large inventory, I should go for the 2.9% financing, too.

Replying to: spark763 (Jun 13, 2008 5:46 pm) After initially offering in the mid $38,000's and listening to the dealer's soliloquy about how he wouldn't make money selling below invoice, I told him I'd buy if I got invoice - rebate + destination (40901 into 38901). They came back with an offer of $300 over mine ($39,201). After getting them to throw in wheel locks and all-weather mats (which I would have bought for $150+ from the internet anyway), I agreed. Here are the details: MSRP: $44,245 Price: $38,486 Destination: $715 NC Tax (3%): $1176.03 Doc fee: $398 Transfer plate: $55 OTD: $40,830.03 The kicker is I'm moving to Indiana very soon, where the state tax is 7%, so I didn't have the luxury of playing the game and walking out the door, etc. as it would have cost another $1600 for the exact same price just on taxes if I had waited a week to buy. Anyway, good luck to the rest of y'all, I couldn't stop smiling on my drive home.

Leith in Raleigh has the most inventory but their quotes were a little higher. Didn't bother with Leith in Fayetteville or Apple Tree in Fletcher as they were farther away and smaller in size.
