In Chicagoland area, do not forget quotes from the Arlington Acura group in Palatine IL, where we bought our MDX last yr at invoice (purchased in June 07). That was when all the other Chicago dealers were quoting much higher prices. Nonetheless, You need to be specific and ask for invoice or below or they will NOT budge.

The best quote I have from Arlington (if you're speaking of Rohrman) is $500 over invoice. I bought my TL from them and would have liked to buy my MDX from them, but I have multiple other dealers quoting me invoice or below ($1,000 in my pocket is better in mine than Rohrman's). After advising the sales manager that they are not competitive with others in the area, he told me he wasn't interested in selling a car at invoice and not making any money (ha, ha, yeah right, he must thinking I am really naive to think that they won't make any money). Oh well, I have 3 other dealers who are ready for my business and hopefully tomorrow I can close something with one of them. In the end, I will be below invoice, and I am happy with anything below invoice. I will post who I decide to purchase from once the deal is concluded.

Hmmmm....I wonder if the "alex45" posting here and touting the virtues of Springfield Acura is related in any way to the Alex that happens to WORK there and is top salesman nationally (moving 50-70 cars per month on his own! Some dealers don't even sell that many cars over 3 months, let alone 1 guy). Seems suspicious.
Also, the lack of answer regarding accessories tells me that the accessories were extra and there's the rub - after adding these (inflated) prices in, the deal is not so much better than some others. Like I have said numerous times in this forum - it is a mistake to look at getting invoice price alone - you need to focus on the absolute total price, including the accessories (installed prices) if you really want to know how good a deal is...just my opinion, but to each his own...

Well said squirtman.

After all, the dealer/salesman does not care a whit what the selling price of the car alone is. What they are focused on is the total price including financing, accessories, warranties, add-ons and trade-in. If they cut $500 off the price of the car, but get it back on the trade-in, it's essentially the same to them. And it's the same to the customer too, although sometimes it may not seem that way. This is often a trick used by the dealer to make the customer happy without actually making any real price concessions.

For example, I noticed that some people have received "less" of a deal on the car. At the same time, they did a good job of cutting the prices on the accessories including installation. While others have posted better prices on the car, but have paid more for the accessories. It's the total price that matters.

Please note that this post is not directed toward any poster(s) in any way or meant to be an indictment in any way. It is just a suggestion of posting prices in a more standardized form so that other forum members can make better sense of the data in making their own purchasing decisions.

Purchase an '08 Nimbus Grey Metallic w/ Ebony, Tech/Ent. yesterday. $42,398 (including desti, wheel locks, all weather mats and the rear cargo cover). All in all I feel I did fairly well. And got a good price on my '01 in trade.

I notice that a lot of you have been getting the Tch for about $500 under invoice and the Tech/Ent for about invoice- give or take a little. So, that being said, what would be a fair/good deal for the Sport and Ent? Would about $500-$700 over invoice be good? I hope to purchase within the next week or so in MD/VA. (DC area). I did see one recent post of a sale of the tech/Ent from Rosenthal for invoice. Thanks.

Your suspicious opinion is totally wrong Squirtman, I don't know an Alex at Springfield Acura. If you read my post, I said I was dealing with Calvin Moore, and my price was my price, price of the car, plus fees and taxes, plus accessories. I thought that I wrote it simple enough.
