We finally got our 2008 MDX Tech/Ent at invoice price from Rosenthal (MD). But we had a very bad experience at Pohanka (VA). We got the quote from all dealers in MD and VA. Rosenthal (MD), Norris (MD) and Pohanka (VA) were quoting the same price and I thought of buying from Pohanka as VA state tax (3%) is less than MD (5%). Later, I found out that you pay state tax depending on where you get your title and not where you buy. While we were at Pohanka to pickup the car, they started playing games and refused to sell at the price that was quoted earlier over the phone. They have no ethics and behave very badly. While we were at the dealer, we saw the same thing happening to two more couples. They basically bid low price to drag the customers to dealership but once you are at the dealer, they show their true colors. I hate negotiating but this board helped me a lot about what to expect and how to deal with it. Thanks again for all you for making our car purchase a smooth one.

Leasing an MDX with navigation in NYC area with 15k a year, true sign and drive (1st month payment only) for $621 a month. This amount is about $70 less than my long time Acura dealer quoted me, and about $30 less than a local leasing specialist quoted. Good deal? Should I sign up? Also, as an aside, I am way over mileage on my '04 MDX (probably more than $2,000 worth). Any suggestions on how to deal / negotiate with dealer or lessor (Honda Financial)? Much thanks.

I bought a '08 Tech (Black on Taupe - looks great!) for $42,553 (includes destination, body side molding, roof rails, sport running board, all season mats) and paid an additional $1968 for the 8 year 100k warranty. For you guys in the market...I would investigate COSTCO auto buyer program (assuming you are a member there)...they refer you to a dealer (McGrath) and they quoted me $150 over invoice. Before the accessories, I paid $350 over invoice at Continental. (Continental Acura would not match the COSTCO price due to it not being written down by the salesmen at McGrath. Paid a little more for a dealer that is closer to home and the salesmen that were a lot more friendlier... Anyways, I LOVE my Acura except for the annoying thumping noise at 20 mph (that is supposedly the ABS system doing a self diagnostic). Noise only occurs once per ignition (with the car sitting atleast 5 min).

Replying to: znewman (Dec 06, 2007 4:14 pm) Please email me the details of your offer or final deal as I am in NY/NJ and looking as well at the MDX Tech lease. Sounds like a nice deal since it is Sign and Drive. Please let me know Cap Cost/MF/Residual and Dealer since I would do the same deal with fewer Miles (10K). jgura |
