I was in market for a Certified MDX and Peabody had one I was interested in but highly overpriced. I live about 2 hours away from Boston, so emailed/called and they wouldn't discuss the price over the phone. Also, the salesman was pretty pissed when I asked him why he had priced the car higher than the rest of the market. In the end, I was able to get a much better car (in terms of miles and trim) from Herb Connolly in Framingham. Peabody still has the car in the lot (it's been over a month) and now has started lowering the price but is still way high.

I would suggest trying Herb Connolly and SunnySide in Nashua,NH.

I would love to buy from Peabody since it's the closest dealer to my house but they aren't starting off on the right foot. Two other dealers immediately replied with price quotes.

I'm surprised you had a poor experience with the Boston dealer. Everything I have read here praises them. Framingham definitely gets the most positive feedback though. I'm not surprised they worked out the best for you.

Please send me the name of the salesperson you dealt with.
I would also like to know whether they were willing to close with you directly or if they tried the floor manager hustle, as they have in the past.

I'll be buying an Acura MDX by end of year in Memphis. Stopped by Acura of Memphis and got the runaround (salesman, sales mgr, general mgr), only to be offered $1000 off sticker. Anyone have any better luck? May go to Jackson, MS where I bought my '04.

Shaig and Beanzai, We're not supposed to post individual names in this forum, but if you'll post your email address, I will send along the name of the person I worked with & give you all details. I only negotiated with Acura of Seattle for about 1-2 hours, and I had a deal over the phone.

There's a reason why we didn't buy our second MDX at Libertyville. We took our business to Pauly in Highland Park and had a night and day experience.

With the 2003, Libertyville proved easy because every dealership was charging MSRP and they happened to have the right color combo.

Flash forward to last year with our 2006 and the run-around I got from Libertyville was obnoxious. I guess they assumed in their dealer quote that I didn't know about the dealer incentives Honda was giving the Acura dealers to move out the 2006 models. When I called them on their false price quote, all of a sudden "they knew exactly what I was talking about" and matched my quotes from Muller and Pauly. Sorry, too late.

If you're still in the market and haven't let Libertyville tarnish your Acura perception, head over to Pauly.

Honestly I cant say I had a bad experience with Peabody - just that there was no luck over the phone/email. The internet salesman claimed they had priced the car to sell, but I was able to get a much better car at a much better price from Framingham. Talking about priced to sell - the car I was interested in at Peabody is still on the lot and has been there for two months. The one I bought from Framingham was priced so well, it was sold within 2 days of coming on the lot. We knew & the salesman also knew that somebody would buy it, if not us, the day we bought it.

In the end though, I feel good that Peabody did not price it well, as I ended up with a much better vehicle - 10K less miles than the one they have and a much better price.
