#5318 of 13267 2008 MDX - new MPG ratings
Sep 02, 2007 (5:05 pm)
Saw 3 new 2008 MDXs on the lot today. In addition to the minor changes posted earlier, there are also new MPG numbers for the MDX: 15 and 20. This is a drop of 2 MPG from 2007. I can't see this helping the Acura sales guys as a bunch of "number crunchers" doing comparo's of SUVs on edmunds will now see MPG as a distinct disadvantage for the MDX.
Secondly, if you are considering a 2007 vs. 2008, you best be looking for at least a $2000 price difference. If not, go with the 2008 as you will get your return on your money when you re-sale. This can be evidenced when you look at a 2001 vs. 2002 MDX on Kelly's Blue Book using same mileage/condition.

Please look at my msg in 5314. What do you suggest for my case? Can I cancel that deal and go for a new deal with this dealer or with any other one? Thanks for your advice in advance.

You may be right -- I looked at the page she faxed me again and it says "RDX" on the tab. Since it's a fax, I can't flip the page. She's out for the holiday, so I can't confirm the information. I did buy a MDX however.

Dekathari: Pls forward me your contact at Hopkins Acura in Fairfield. I live in the Southbay and am looking for a MDX w/ Sports + Entertainment pkg. The lowest price I received from Stevenscreek is $44,500 + TTL. I'm trying to see if I could get a better deal today as 2.9% finance rate expires tomorrow. Thanks!
#5325 of 13267 Salesman Won't Share Price Over Email?
Sep 03, 2007 (12:54 pm)
I just emailed a handful of Acura dealers in Massachusetts for price quotes on an MDX with Tech Package. The dealer in Peabody replied and said he won't give pricing over email and said they won't have any 2008's for a while so focus on the 2007's. First, why won't he share prices over email if I'm a serious buyer (I am)? Second, are the 2008's really not available yet or is he just trying to get rid of the 2007's? Thanks.

Sekhar - I'm also located in the Atlanta area...check with Nalley Acura in Marietta to see if you can get a better deal. Karl Dunkelberger is their internet manager and when we were looking at Acura's he was great to deal with.
#5327 of 13267 Stay away from Acura of Libertyville in Illinois
Sep 03, 2007 (4:27 pm)
We went to the Acura of Libertyville, ILLINOIS on September 1st, after several conversations over the phone and a test drive. The final price negotiated for the MDX 07 model was inclusive(including internet fee, TTL, Document Fee, Destination).
However, after we turned down the excess items the dealer was trying to offer us, they decided to take advantage of our sincerity towards the deal: offering excuses such as the responsible manager had left, requested that we paid a $1000 deposit to hold the car for the weekend, and promised that they would call us at 10:30 am Monday morning to sign the final paper.
We went home very happy, believing that we already had the car bought.
When Monday came, we received a couple of other dealers' calls in the morning. We naturally turned them down, believing we were already charged deposits for the new Acura MDX from Libertyville.
However, 10:30 came and go....11:30 came and go, 12:30 came and go. Only after repeated phone calls to the dealership, we had the chance to go "pick-up" our 07 MDX. When we get to the dealership, it became clear to us that the dealership was never sincere when dealing the vehicle to us. They found excuse after excuse about why they need to charge us more, even though we had agreed barely one and half day earlier, and charged me $1000 deposit.
Even after I told them that this is a terrible customer service practice, they continued to hassle me with additional conditions, taking advantage that I came to the dealership alone to pick up the SUV without my husband.
Finally, I had to leave the dealership without the SUV that we had spent almost a week to testing and buying last Saturday.
