I tend to differentiate between the purchase and the service. We have been shopping for a Sport ppkg MDX and have been to Bellevue and Seattle.

Bellevue was the worst car buying experience I have ever had. The salespersons attitude was atrocious and they were asking for $2200 over invoice. No negotiation. We walked out. Friends at work related similar purchase experiences but claimed that the service department was good.

We were at Acura of Seattle and they wanted $46k plus change as their opening bid, including NW Pro Package, dest and prep. Then they dropped to $44.6k for special group pricing for the above. That was still high by $2050 over invoice. I countered with $400 over invoice. They went into the song and dance about "True dealer cost" but ignored my rebuttal of having "True dealer cost" including holdback and incentives. They were pitching it as 3% over TDC. We left and they came down to 2% within 5 minutes on the phone. Today their general manager called and offered 1% over TDC. Roughly $750 over invoice. Still high but not exorbitant. Our DIO package is close to another $1500 so there is more profit in there for them.

I was just contacted today by Acura of Lynnwood. They quoted lower prices for the DIOs and wanted to talk about the base price.

Trouble is, Bellevue is the closest and they jack up their service prices 10% (or so I heard) if you don't have their "purchase discount".

I completed a comments form on the web site for their dealership, describing how bad things have been. I addressed it to the dealership owner. I don't know whether anyone will contact us or not.

I think you can find one here if you can negotiate and I don't know that running down to Oregon is worth the difference.

Purchased a 2007 MDX Sport last night for 41,500 including destination plus TTL. No hassle, no negotiating... I called Friday morning checking for a 2007 Nimbus Gray w/Ebony interior Sport / Entertainment and their was only one at the dealership... So I requested the salesman check the miles... he called back 30 minutes later and advised another salesman called their customer and they immediately put a deposit down... Okay... no problem... I'll just keep checking... So I started thinking... Do we really need the DVD? So I inquired if they had a Nimbus Grey Sport on the lot, and luckily they did... he ask how much I was willing 2 pay... I gave him my price of $41.5, advised I'm a repeat customer and the deal was done! Picked up the SUV later that day with no problems..

Yes, 41500 is a great price for the tech/ent package along with the accessories you mentioned. I'm a little upset I didn't get the accessories also... Good Luck!!!

Hi Krisv,

I'm a little confused. Nowhere did I read the base invoice for mdx tech/ent was 41,162. Can you let me know where you got that number.

Edmunds quotes the invoice price without destination which comes to $42094 - $670. Whereas kbb.com quotes invoice which includes destination $42094.

I am hoping I am looking at the right numbers and websites.

Please respond.

Sorry - let me clarify - that's consumer reports bottom line price. According to them, invoice is $42533 and there is a dealer holdback of $1371, making their bottom line price $41162 - this is the place they suggest starting your negotiations and going up from there instead of down from MSRP. The other place I got a lower Invoice price than what you're showing was at Consumer Guide (how stuff works) - they showed $41193 for invoice on the Tech/Ent MDX. Hope that helps.

Bought Tech pkg in bay area by ychili

I bought a tech package the last week of July from Fairfield,CA. I paid $41,200 before taxes and registration. This included the sport running board, roof rail and racks. This is the closest to the invoice price I got.

The sales staff Tariq/Nick were very pleasant to work with and would highly recommend it. Avoid the Marin Acura, the sales guy Ben is a nut.

Just got back from a first round of negotiations with three Acura dealers in the Boston area for a 2007 MDX sport pkg.

Best price so far is $300 over invoice, but I have gotten some guidance from one sales guy that he might be able to get me an invoice deal if I was going to sign today.

I thought that I read somewhere in this forum that Acura is providing dealers with a $1,000 price adjustment on 2007 MDX's so that dealer invoice is now effectively $41,004 (rather than $42,004) for the sports trim pkg (including destination). Is this accurate?

If this the case, what ought to be a reasonable and fair price to pay for the MDX?

I do not plan to take advantage of the dealer financing incentive. Does this effect the price the dealer should be willing to sell the MDX?

Plan to add the following accessories:
*roof rails
*body side molding
*cargo cover
*wheel locks

Should I expect any discount on these?

Thanks!!!
