Miles on a new car by msindallas

I was checking a dealer's inventory, and found exactly the color combo I wanted. However, the odometer reads 125 miles. I tried a few other vehicles (of different colors), and all of them had 11 to 14 miles on them. Any idea why a new MDX might have 125 miles on it? Should I just wait and get some other vehicle?

Sorry if this subject has been discussed before. If so, a pointer will be enough. Thanks for the insights, - MS.

I am guessing they probably made a trade with another regional dealer. Financially it's cheaper to drive the car to the other dealership rather than transport it.

When I visited dealers, I told some I preferred Black/Bordeaux. They looked in their computer and said they could get one in a few days but didn't have it on their lot. A trade would be the most logical explanation of how they could get it that quickly.

When you look at the dealer's used inventory, is it all pre-owned Acura's or similar higher end makes? My guess if it is, then that dealer has no intention of keeping your trade in its inventory to resell. They will not give you more than they could get at auction, which is ALWAYS south of Edmund's TMV, KB, or NADA values. The fact you have higher than average mileage doesn't help either. Auction prices are the real "wholesale" values, not what Edmunds/KB/NADA trade-in values are. I would also dare say that Edmunds TMV for the MDX is a bit higher than $600 over invoice. Since you were successful in reducing the price off the top, the dealer will do the same off the bottom.

It's not a screamin deal, but it does seem fair to me. I don't think you're going to do much better anywhere else.

I was told my the sales guy I'm working with in No VA and the F & I manager there wouldn't be any financing incentives on the MDX for a while (with the exception of lease specials) since it's selling well.

This sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I've been shopping for the same model and the lowest price I got over the phone was $40,400. What state did you purchase this in? I'm shopping in southern CA.

How does trade in affect negotiations? by suvhunt

Hi, I am been negotiating prices over phone/email for tech/ent. Currently the best offer is invoice or maybe 150 under, which is 41950 to 42100 in DC area. I have a 01 Camry with low miles that was appraised by Carmax to be 8000. KBB is 6700 for some reason, Edmunds is 7800, and NADA is 9000 estimate.

Should I try to sell my car before I buy the MDX or see if dealers are willing to match Carmax?

Also, I'm annoyed by dealers who say selling at invoice is the same as them "not making a profit." What a load of bs.

How to negotiate - no one is quoting invoice price by gublooo

Hey Guys

I've gathered quotes from abt 10-12 dealers in Delaware,PA and NJ.

I'm looking for a MDX with sports and entertainment.
The invoice price according to Edmunds is $43996

But the lowest quote I've received is $45095. They are no add-ons in these vehicles.

No one is willing to go below that. They are like bring me a written quote from other dealer, and I will give you at that price.

This is my first car buying experience. I keep reading posts from other people buying at invoice price. So how do I negotiate?

If anyone in the tristate area has gotten a good deal, please let me know the dealership name and city. I would really really appreciate it.

Thanks
