I also have friends (guys I can call to grab a beer) who are owners, sales managers, sales guys, etc... and you are better off buying from a dealer where you don't know anybody if you want the best price. It is easier to buy from a hook-up as much less hassle and haggling but not as good of a deal. Main reason is you don't want to insult a hook-up with a really low offer or one where they "lose" money. Inpersonal phone/internet/fax works best. I have bought a lot of new cars.

Replying to: sean21 (Jun 14, 2006 8:52 am) I am wondering what are the main differences between MDX and its poorer brother Pilot. Of course other than the name itself, I see some differences like the leather quality. However, is it worth it to pay 6-7K more to buy an MDX touring over a Pilot EX-L? Am I missing something? Your answers are really appreciated. Thank you, CarLover. |

I was really giving my personal opinion to others out there. I have bought a substantial (too many) number of new cars in the 22 years since I turned 16 so have a lot of experience. I am just trying to share to help people as I enjoy helping. In a car like the MDX I found that prices people, including myself, were paying were substantially below MSRP and I want people to know that. Plus, I think it needs to be repeated a lot as I know I didn't totally believe the prices people were paying as the first dealer I talked to let me walk. Oh ya, I enjoy being a smart alic too but in this instance I was not trying to be negative toward you at all. My previous salesmen comment/post was meant to be sort of a joke toward you but just a joke. Please don't take offense. Really, I am sorry you took offense. |

Got my MDX at Metro Acura in Philly Touring w/Nav and Ipod -MSRP 42,600 + 289 for Ipod -Sale Price 38,600+289 -Add $700 for my trade in (dealer bought for 7600, i owed 8300) -Add tax, tags, etc -No money down -.00122 Money Factor Monthly Payment: $583 Looks like they gave me about the price that you'd get with a standard lease calculator. I suppose I might have been able to get a little better of a deal, but for a $43,000 car with $0 down and negative equity on my trade-in, i'm ok with it. Love the car BTW. |

So my 2003 MDX with navigation now has 49,700 miles, a couple dings here and there, but CLEAN mats, clean carpet, glossy paint, and still a good amount of tread left on the tires. Long story short, after shopping two dealerships, one only wants to give me $19,700 and the other $20,000 for my car. Now, I realize I have slightly above average miles (15,000 a year,) but considering the condition it's in, I'm slightly appalled. I paid $41,000 (sticker at the time for my car) and now it's worth less than 50% of it's value after a little more than 3 years of ownership. I thought this was why I didn't buy another Chrysler! I wanted to get into a new MDX, which I was quoted $37,800 on for the same model I have now, but with the low-ball trade amounts they wouldn't budge on, I really don't know. I'm not thinking 17-$18K for OnStar, Bluetooth, XM, and more airbags are exactly worth it. If I'm gonna be forking over that kind of dough, I might as well wait for the 2007 MDX and feel like I'm really getting something new for my extra money. Should I try more dealerships or do you think I won't do much better on my trade given the current market? I guess $18K for a MDX is still better than the $41K I paid 3.5 years ago for, but now I'm torn. P.S. I'm in the Chicago suburbs

Does anybody have a price-range for this SUV? Or any reviews? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

for a 2006 Acura MDX with Touring/Navigation and Towing; quoted price was $39,889 (and that is after netting out the $1,000 rebate). Based on other posts I have read, this price appears to be high. Are there others here in Southwest Virginia/Western North Carolina/Upper East Tennessee? If so what has been your buying experience for a 2006 MDX? Thanks in advance for any comments and/or suggestions! |
