Hi All,

Based on the suggestion from this furum. I searched the lowest price possible a few hundred miles around Buffalo, NY and get 05 premium model/Silver with black interior as follow. The car is coming in Aug. and the dealer asked me to put $500 deposite. -- Is it OK for me to put the deposite? What should I do to make sure there will be no unseen things happen?

$32,400 (destintation included)
$253 for rack (?)
$243 for protection package (floor mat., etc)
$150 processing fee
total: $33,050

No problem putting down a deposit if you have a signed sales contract, but definitely do it with a credit card, not a check or debit card. That gives you much more protection as far as getting that money back if the deal falls through.

If you don't mind travel, Philadelphia has better deal than that. You can get between 34,700 - 34,900 for MDX Touring. Most of dealers will do invoice less 1500.

Is this price OK and anyone can tell if the 150 processing fee is reasonable or standard?

Hi all,

Is this the price for a base model assuming $1500 below invoice?

33,242 -1500 + 570 = 32312

Thanks,

Jane

Jane:

in many of the deals I've seen, the customer did not pay destination charge. in my case, I didn;t have to pay it but then I only got $1000 of the rebate off the invoice. depends what kind of deal you can work out. good luck.

you paid for destination charge....it is already included in the price of the car no mater what you think...that is why you only received $1000 of the $1500 incentive.
EVERYONE pays for destination no matter what...in the end...it is all the numbers game....

The invoice should be:

33,242 + 570 destination = 33812

You can get the best deal of:
33812 - 1500 = 32312.

I live in Buffalo, NY and very difficult to cut the price. Talked to them and asked if they provide price close to 33400 (600 over invoice). The answer is -"you are stealing money from us" - very bad experience. So I decide to go other place - a few hours driving. Talk to the people and they are very nice (they even immediately give the price of the added roof racks and protection package around 250 each). Only a few min. on the phone and got the deal.

In general for all of us, not going to disclose where I bought but the deal is real.

I just bought a MDX with Touring + NAV + RSE + bright chrome steps + protection Package + cargo cover for 38,600 ( price does not include tax + tags + $45 doc fee)

45,569 = MSRP of vehicle + options from the acura.com website (don't figure your options prices from the dealer sheets, they are all different. You have to go off the msrp of the options from the acura website then /2 to "guesstimate the dealer invoce of the options.

so.....

39,610 = Invoice (dest is always!! included in dealer invoice, to many of you are adding this to the invoice, this is sheer profit for the dealer if you add it to the 39,610 and then negotiate)
512 = $1024 in option MSRP from acura website (cargo tray ,wheel locks, all-season mats)

so ..
39,610 + 512 = 40,122the dealer invoice with options ( like i said divide by 2 the msrp of options to make an educated guess)

-1500 = dealer incentive
-1367 = holdback (3% of the total MSRP!! of the vehicle which in this case is $45,569)

so....
 40,122 invoice
-1500 incentive
- 1367 holdback
--------------------
$37,255 is the dealers price (this is he has to wait for his holdback till te end of the quarter)

There is no prep fee or BS like that. For any car the prep is already given to the dealer from corporate. Think about t, the dealer is an individual...so he gets a car wrapped in plastic and stuff so why should he have to pay someone to buff it and blah blah. The cost to install the options is different but the /2 thing seems to be in the ballpark and covers that.

I think if you use these steps you can get a better idea of what the dealer is getting the car for and what is covered in the invoice etc...

The price I paid is real but unless you are a smooth negotiater you will never dve into the holdback. This is very rare. I am sure this will help someone, I know this board gave me a base to start ot with so I fell obligated to write something that may be of use. The options priceing is really the only piece which is a guess bt I think the formula is O.K. to get an idea.

My best guess is the dealer made 1,345 off of me which is fine by me.
