i'm new at the leasing game and would appreciate any advice. looking for an mdx with touring package - no navigation. would like to pay minimal upfront costs - roll taxes and bank fees into lease. any advice as to a fair/favorable rate? any recommendations as to long island/new york dealers? thanks.

Requested quotes from Chicago & Cincinnati yesterday; we live in Indy. MDX Touring, no options. MSRP $39,725+570dest; invoice $35,785+dest = $36,355 - $1,500 dealer incentive = $34,855. Cinci dealer $37,500; Chicago dealer $35,075. Plus tax and doc fee. Tough decision, huh?

Replying to: bigsald (Jun 15, 2005 4:05 pm) I had to make a trip myself to PA to pick up my car -- I had the deal pretty much closed before I ever got there -- did not end up with an Acura, but should be a similar process. I dealt with the internet sales manager, and I did lease, but I can't imagine the process being different. I test drove the car elsewhere, so all I needed from the selling dealer, is to actually sell me the car. I had the price and details negotiated beforehand -- TOTAL out of pocket is always nice to know -- whether you are leasing or buying -- this way there can be no suprise fees. I had the credit app done before I got there. I had the VIN for the car, because I told them I had to insure it (which was true), and with the VIN there is less of a chance of them messing with you (Plus, you may be able to check if the car is one and the same as the one you want). Since everything was done beforehand, all I did on the morning of pickup was do a walkaround of the car (and believe me, I would have walked just like you did if anything would be wrong, and I think there is less of a chance of them messing with you once the credit and insurance is done -- they have invested a lot more in the car, and they have to prep it for pickup), signed the papers, paid what I owe and drove -- a total of 1 hour including a "this is how to set up the garage opener, and this cool button will turn of traction control". I spent a lot of time writing emails and calling before I ever went there, but this was the most painless car shopping experience I've had to date. I think the formula here is -- find a dealer who is trully an "internet manager" (which just means he is willing to negotiate remotely), and bother the hell out of him, so by the time you are ready to sign, he will feel bad letting you go, even if he doesn't make a dime off the sale. Good luck !! |
