Happy to help our fellow MDX owners.

I was working with Acura of Lynnwood and Acura of Bellevue but go fed up with them (for 3 months). They seem to think they can still command price premiums. I finally ended up with a fine MDX that fit exactly what I wanted from Acura of Portland. To make the deal easy, the dealer drove the car up right into my driveway in Mukilteo (200 miles away). These guys were straight shooters (at least my salesguy but I know I can't mention his name on this forum). He even referenced this site on our first phone conversation whereas the Lynnwood and Bellevue dealerships gave me the same song and dance routines. Watch out about this $500 over invoice deal. I got quotes with invoices that included "prep costs" and other junk that they included in the invoice price. Be clear when they say invoice price, they mean KBB invoice price. If you can get that, that's probably a decent deal for our area.

I got a touring MDX with black running boards and the floor mat / wheel lock packagage for $36,300 + tax and tags. You got to time this stuff right as we did the dance for a couple of weeks before we came up with this compromise price. They are sending the paperwork for title to a Seattle DMV office so I can pay my car tax and get a WA state tag. They told me they sent the paperwork today so let's hope they don't mess it up.

Acura of Portland ... you got a good plug on this forum for "doing your customer right". Based on this experience, I'm happy to try and steer other customers your way.

I got quoted a lease rate of $520 for a 36mth lease on a MDX touring 12k mi/yr.
that rate is for an all in sign and drive, I just pay my first mth payment + plates.
my tax rate is 8.5%, New York city area

Does this sound like a good deal or can I do better?

Every dealer in the NY area is now willing to accept invoice price for all three trims. MDX's up for redesign and they aren't moving as quickly as they used to.

you can buy at invoice from ANY dealer in the NY area. I spoke with three and every single one agreed -- base, touring or w/nav.

Hi Mukilteo,

Thanks for your information.

Touring Invoice: 35, 785
Destination: 570
Running Boards: 600
Floor Mat/Wheel Lock: 350
Total: 37,305

So, it looks like you got the car for $1000 below cost?

Acura of Portland started off with a high price (~35+), but came down to $34,475, which is 313 over cost (33,812 + 350 for protection + 313 profit). Based on your deal, I think there is room to negoitate more.

Would you agree? Also, they are not offering to drive it up to Seattle.

Roastboar,

As with most dealers, timing is everything. I got a strong feeling Acura of Portland wanted to unload that car. I originally didn't want the running boards or the mats/locks and told them I'd wait for what I wanted, whether it was from a Seattle area dealer or somewhere else (like Portland). My tactic was to be pigheaded and offer a non-negotiable price and wait to see the first one that bites. If they didn't have exactly what I wanted, then the extras would have to be very close to free or there's no deal. If you have patience, it can pay out for you too, but I shopped for 3+ months to get the deal I wanted. But I could afford to wait. I already have a car that's running fine but was ready to upgrade to the MDX if the price was right. I plan to use my current old car as a communter car until I can unload it myself via a classified ad ... besides, the MDX gas mileage sucks compared with my old car and we all know about the high price of gas these days.

I am living in Houston, and want to buy my first MDX w/Nav. I have gotten a quota from internet salesman for $40,149. I read some messages here. Seems we can get it at $39,000 to $40,000. Thanks for anybody's comments about it. I also want to get recommendations for dealers or sales persons. Thanks in advance.

according to my model I paid 41,961. That includes DVD. Did yours at 506 include dvd or just naviagation? Please tell me just navigation. The weird thing is their contract ended up saying I paid 42,359. Course what I really care about is the lease price which was 595 including tax. I'm not going to buy at the end of the lease so I don't care about residual value. Also, my drive off was 1800 - NY has a bank fee of 1095. Did CT?. Anyway, it seems NY area dealers weren't dealing as much as CT, but I was just trying to figure out by how much I overpaid. Thanks.
