MDX in Southern NJ by dashadow

Just closed the deal on a sage bush pearl MDX/NAV. Using Edmunds info, got two quotes and went with my local dealer (Sussman Automotive). Whole process was smooth and easy. Cost was invoice+$650. Not as good as some others have gotten here, however, I'm satisfied.

Only disappointment was Acura financing. They quoted 4.9% on a 36 month loan. I went elsewhere and got a better deal.

Picking it up tomorrow. Between now and then I'm going to have to figure out a way to pry my wife out of the driver's seat.

Funny thing is, I know the owner! I was a commercial real estate broker before becoming a developer and sold him the land in 1988 that they are now building a new Acura store on. The salesman actually told his son that I was in to buy an MDX and this is the treatment I got. Needless to say, in the car game it's not who you know but what you know!

The board host deleted my post because I mentioned the first name of the internet manager at Davis. I edited and reposted but it has not appeared.

After using Edmunds to determine the real numbers I visited my local dealer and then requested a price quote via the Edmunds site. The closest dealer (Montgomeryville Acura) must have confused me with a fool because they offered to sell me an MDX Touring for $1000 off of list. After a bit of back and forth they took another $500 off. Needless to say I thanked them for their time and departed. One day later I received an email from Davis Acura in Langhorne, PA offeringme the same MDX for $1200 over cost. I spoke to the internet manager directly and told him I would be purchasing the car within 4 weeks. He was very accomodating and suggested I call when ready. Ten days passed and on 7/30 I received an email saying that because it was month end they would sell me the car for invoice if I purchased now. I confirmed the price and called Montgomeryville to offer them a last look although I knew they'd balk. Well...I was right and they spent more time telling me that Davis couldn't deliver at the price they quoted. I visited Davis the next day, signed the paperwork in 15 minutes and returned that evening with my wife to pick up the vehicle. All in all a painless experience and the Davis salesman was awesome.

This morning at 9:00 I received a call from the Montgomerville salesman asking if I was ready to buy the MDX, I asked him what he didn't understand about the conversation we had last week? He acted like I was lying about the Davis price. If anyone who lives in the Philadelphia burbs is looking for an Acura I suggest you avoid Montgomeryville.

Just closed a deal and drove home my new 2004. Out the door it was $33,837 for the base model with a pin stripe thrown in. Dealer in Eugene Oregon had the car on the lot and was ready to do business. It was definitely worth the 100 mile drive (although I was also quoted a very attractive discount on a 2005 locally)

I am sorry. I didn't read the forum's prohibition on salesperson names. I'll repost and leave that stuff out. I just thought it might be helpful. Should I leave my name out as well, or do you think it would be helpful with those who are trying to deal with dealers in Portland and Eugene so they can't claim that they never offered that deal to anyone.
