The answer is NO. I have asked this question too, way back before I bought my MDX. So far I'm enjoying the navigation system. The only time that you have to spend $$ would be when you need to update, and you are talking a year, 2 years, or more. It would probably cost you around $150.00 for the updated disk. This is just my recollection.

I just get my MDX last night. This was so unexpected. We plan to do this 3-4 weeks from today, but when I call Keyes Acura in Van Nuys and get price quote $38,600 ($1000 over invoice. Acura 101 West asking for $39,700), my wife decided go down and check what can we do. Of couse they added running boards and wheels locks, witch add additional $800+ to price. After1 hr very professional conversation (if you can call this conversation) we get to $39,100. I know that some people will say that they have better deal. Congratulation to you. I get my and I am comfortable with this.
Thank you all for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Would I recommend Keyes Acura? – Highly recommended! Would I recommend my salesman and floor manager? – Yes, I do. They guys was very sharp and this was my best experience to buy new car. If any one need names – e-mail to me and I will be happy to provide them to you.

Nav update cost is a little over $200 with tax and shipping included. There has been only one significant update (last October with a fix patch in January), though there have been small ones along the way for specific areas.

When we got our 02 MDX I discovered the nav system data base was over two years old. The major update I purchased and installed at the end of last year was about 15 months out of date, so don't expect up to date road or site information. Still, it is very handy and we use it frequently.

Acura MDX : Chevy Chase Acura : Poor Customer Service/ Support by dearman

If you are looking to purchase an Acura MDX in the Washington Area, I would have 2 recommendations... 1) Dont buy an MDX. It is honestly the worst car I have automobile I have ever owned. 2) If your set on buying an MDX, dont buy it from the Chevy Chase Acura in Bethesda Md.

As far as the Acura MDX is concerned, it is the worst driving car I have ever owned and it gets terrible gas mileage (approx 14 mpg using premium gasoline vs the 19 mpg I was getting with my Toyota 4 Runner using regular gas) .

As far as customer service is concerned, the Chevy Chase Acura dealership in Bethesda Maryland has provided as bad of service as I could possibly imagine including 1) not having my new MDX ready on the promised delivery date even after calling to confirm that it was ready to be picked up. 2) Having oil tracked through the car during the 2500 mile oil change 3) having to return the car seven times to address a transmission problem with little to no attention to addressing the problem 4) having the General Manager and owner of the dealership showing no interest/concern over the problems encountered... Ultimately their recommendation was to 1) live with the problem, 2) hope the problem gets worse to the point that Acura would be willing to fix it or 3) trade my 2003 MDX with 6,000 miles for a 2004 MDX for a mere $9,500. After asking if Acura was willing to give up a 20 year Honda/Acura customer, the response from the owner of Chevy Chase Acura was that he didnt want to loose a customer but wasnt willing to do anything to address our problem.....

Sorry for your experience, but I'm not surprised by the lousy customer service of Chevy Chase Acura. I believe the ownership / management was from the former Euromotors Acura and they took me to the cleaners a couple of times.

On the "thanks" side, I masde the mistake of going over there just to look at the new TL and I'm getting repeated e-mails of "how can we sell you?". Like the TV ad with the guy "Sooo, how much software do you want to buy today?".

I plan on reprinting your post and sending it to them with the statement that if they can't take care of current customers, they don't deserve a new one.

Chevy Chase Acura Service by eddiemac

That's why even though I live in DC, I purchased my MDX from Lindsay Acura in Columbus, Ohio. As far as service, I would recommend Tischer Acura in Laurel. I purchased my 2002 TL-s there, and I have both the MDX and TL serviced there as well as my 1990 Integra before that. When I took my TL in for 15k service, Chevy Chase quoted me a price of $260. Tischer was $145! I just took the TL in for 30K service this past Wednesday, and they(Tischer) gave me a 2004 TL loaner!(If you want one make sure you request it 3 days in advance).

Thanks for the recommendation. Would Tischer provide a service loaner for your MDX, given that you didn't buy it there?

Please post your actual price, less tax and tags, since those vary significantly between DC, MD and VA.

I'll take a stab and translate your $46,000 into approximately $42,900 n/i tax and tags, assuming the worst - DC tax at 7%. That seems very high, barely under full MSRP. Am I missing something?

For comparison, I have a standing deal for any MDX at $1,000 over invoice from the same Pennsylvania dealer I am considering purchasing a TL from. That would put the price of the Touring w/ Nav & RES right at $40,000 ("On the road" price of $42,950 here in DC.).

However, after watching my sister in law's two kids glued to a portable DVD at a restaurant the other night, I'm tempted to go with Nav and forego the RES. I don't want my kids to have their brains turned into mash potatoes with constant TV/DVD entertainment. As such, the price of the Touring w/ NAV would be $38,650 ($41,500 on the road).

How did yours get up to $46k??
