IF I buy MDX this will be my first luxury purchase .. I bought Civic, Accord and Odyssey so love Honda Quality and craftsmanship however buying Acura nothing but removing a root canal. Never had any issue buying Honda from Joyce Honda NJ.. Great people and easy dealings however Acura salesmen are just 180 degree. As per me they are liars, deceivers and in some case downright racist.
1.9% and 0.9% is still valid up to Feb 28 2011 so that keeps me going again however looked at Lexus and no one sell Lexus base model and they all want $5,000 more than invoice .. are you crazy in this economy? How many people buying Lexus? and if they do after 2010 fiasco .. why bother ? So I am back in Acura camp and trying to find a honest (?) salesman who could keep his word for the price he quoted. I want costco experience I buy, I pay and I get out .. (less than 5 min all transaction) .. let me keep dreaming when you buying a MDX!

Same here. I was confused between RX 350, MDX or RDX. Now I ruled out RX 350 with the only reason that every dealer wants $4000+ options installed. I asked base model and they said, it's 4 month wait. What ? 3 out of 4 dealers didn't even reply to my internet quote request. They said, come to the dealership and we will give you the best price. When I insisted online that give me the internet price they didn't even bother to reply. I expected that since RX350 is doing this bad, they will be better customer oriented than before. But, I am wrong.
Now, I am not sure whether I should go for MDX or RDX. I will have a kid may be in 1 year so, not sure whether I need 7 seater or not. RDX has all the luxury options (moonroof, rearview mirror, bluetooth, heated seats) in their standard price while for MDX I have to pay extra for some. At the same time RDX is not as comfy ride as MDX, it's little firm. So, confused between two.

I would go with MDX .. I bet Lexus/Toyota paying all those glitzy showroom to keep the lights on .. I wonder who buys Lexus? Which is overpriced and dealers insist getting thousands of dollar over the invoice .. my take is they don't want to sell car to you ... its like welfare .. if its keep coming .. why bother for work?

May I ask why you think you would for MDX over RDX (other than you have to have 7 seater) ?

As per consumer reports RX 450H beats MDX by I guess two to three points so definitely 450h must be better than MDX however Acura gives you more car for the money you put it in .. i would do compare online and see the differences . for me since I am honda fan my natural progression is Acura and also wanted to buy SUV since I was 25 but never had a money to buy one... And as you also mentioned lexus over price is major nixe for me.

Thanks for your suggestion. I asked between MDX and RDX (not RX). But looks like small SUV RDX is not in your list at all. Glad you can now buy your dream SUV. Same here. Goodluck...

#10877 of 12858 2011 Base or 2008 Tech?
by gategirl

Went to the dealer to see a 2008 MDX Tech with about 55K miles on it listed at $29,900. Wasn't thrilled about how many miles are on it, but all their pre-owned stock had about that much. The sales agent offered us a 2011 Base, service loaner, with 5K miles. They are selling it as a CPO for about $37,500. The car looks great, had its service, and they added a CPO warranty on top of the factory warranty. I know that service loaners can be iffy propositions, but it seems like a good deal. (The dealer only has Acuras, so everyone coming in for service would already be an Acura owner, if that makes a difference.)
We haven't negotiated a final price on either option, but imagine there will be about a 9K difference between the choices. Wondering which way you would go? Would you be too wary of service loaners to consider the 2011 or has the deal been sweetened sufficiently? How do these prices seem to those of you who have negotiated good deals for yourselves?
