| I would appreciate it if anyone who has recently bought a new G35 COUPE in any of the following markets: Lexington,KY; Louisville,KY; Knoxville,TN; or Cincinnati,OH would post a brief account of his/her/their experience and what was paid (in terms of amount over invoice or under MSRP, PLUS any markups like marketing fees, doc fees, packs, etc.) Many thanks in advance | |
| Anyone know what the dealer holdback is on the G35 Sedan, or any other specials being run by Infinit. I do know they are now offering 1.9% and 2.9% financing now, but would greatly appreciate knowing about any other deals right now as will buy in the next two weeks. Thank you. | |

Dealer Holdback is not a special that a dealer runs. Dealer Holdback is money that the manufacturer pays to the dealer when he sells the car. This is not listed on the invoice or disclosed to the buyer in any way. Only places like Edmunds will tell you what it is. It is usually 2 or 3% (varies by manufacturer) and evaporates if the car sits on the lot for some time because the dealer has to lease the land that he parks cars on. That payment is paid every month whether a car is sold or not so if it sits for to long, that car's portion of the lease payments become more than the holdback for that car. I think your question is about incentives or rebates. |

| Got it, any incentives or rebates out there other than the low financing incentive? Thanks. | |

.....‘Unless it's the convertible 430 then i cant imagine anything other than your proud ownership led you to consider making a stmt that lexus is so far ahead in some way over infiniti..which way by the way?’..... uhmm… have you ever looked at a Lexus GS… next to a G35. Looks pretty damn similar to me. And when did Lexus design this, uhmm… lets say 1998? Take a look from the front, side and back, and you will notice some very very strong similarities on the outside… Interior, ride, etc.. is a different story, depends on what you like. you like a tight ride, you'll like infiniti. you like refinement, you'll side with Lexus. everyone has different tastes, no use arguing back and forth. |

Folks, the purpose of this discussion is for those who have recently purchased a G35 to share their experience with the buying process. The Smart Shopper board is a good place for holdback, incentive and rebate questions, and some of these other messages would fit nicely into the general discussion about the Infiniti G35. The search tools on the left side of the page will help locate appropriate discussions. In fact, if you haven't tried a search lately, check it out -- it has been recently enhanced and is just super! As always, feel free to drop me an email if I can help you find anything. Can anyone respond to this post: hollenhorst2 Aug 9, 2003 2:53pm? |

Just thought I'd share my experience. I used this website and carbuyingtips.com a lot when I purchased my Honda Accord. I was able to get a great deal on that car. Today I went out to help my mom buy the G35! What a beautiful car! Wish I had been negotiating for me. I didn't have much time to research, but I knew people were having a hard time getting close to invoice, and in some cases, it seems to be difficult to get the car for much less than MSRP. Anyhow, I contacted the internet/fleet manager and worked with him. After much, much haggling...a break for lunch, and a near walk-out, I was able to get the car for $500 over his invoice price (which included a $400 marketing assessment fee, which is total BS and I made a real stink about it!) He originally wanted $1,500 over invoice. I think we did ok...I hope we did. We paid $31,100 for the desert platinum/graphite leather interior, w/premium package, and a trunk mat or something Thanks & happy shopping all! tania |

| I live in Houston, and just finished buying my G35 Sedan from Dallas. I got the twilight blue with the graphite interior. MSRP was $37000, and I got the car for $34000. I got the Premium, Navigation, Winter, Aero, and Sports Package. I think that is about $800 over invoice, which is about the best I could find down here. I am happy and waiting for arrival on Tuesday! | |

I know well what the gs lexus looks like and is all about. My car enthusiast best friend has owned lexus and toyotas for his whole drving life. I spent 6 months debating with him about what both of us would buy last year. He wanted G but got GS300 as he has three kids and back was wider for carseats. I got to spend months driving his GS300 and getting to know it before I purchased. So while it's a wonderful car, he and I agree on these items. 1) G is better handler and has much better power 2) GS is luxury and not for throwing into turns 3) Parked next to each other they have similarities and many differences too. One is not the other when you look at trees and not the forest. But neither of us minded the comparisons to each others cars and we both felt complimented when one brought up the other. 4) Both are equally well put together and GS has more refined interior...but he likes mine more. The front seat of the GS has some issues for 6'5" guys even for a big car...the dash is huge...and the AARP must have been involved in button and control design as they are huge. 5) Both are awesome cars but shouldn't be compared for performance. Lexus has nothing on design or performance over G. Now my comments are - lexus is great - but on the items we were willing to pay for..kids not withstanding...lexus has nothing on G. If you want to feel good in a luxo car...lexus is for you. The middle ages fast and furious should go to infiniti dealer...and the GS has been out since early 90's with minor revisions to appearance. Not sure lack of handling prowess or power on one car equates to a lack of refinement in the other...we were both at a loss to find any lack of refinement in either car. My bud did mention he was bummed he had to pay the extra 5-7k for that dealer service and refinement he thought he could get from infiniti... if he would stop feeding his kids cheezesteaks every night. |
