I think I may actually take a closer look at a 2008 TL, I may be able to get more bang for the buck.
But you're still getting a TL, not near as performance oriented, even the TL-S falls a bit short, but they do look nice and have decent features, With the all new 09TLs they should be really dealing right now, even moreso than the G since the G is just an engine/trans upgrade.

Yes, my understanding is the same as yours. My dealership is willing to give the whole $4000 cash incentive if you buy the car at invoice. I am pretty sure I can squeeze another $100/$200 below invoice if I offer cash to buy the G35x.

With regard to dealer hold back, I think it is 2% of MSRP. How do I know? Well, I went to my local Acura dealership to look at a 2009 TL AWD right after I left the Infiniti dealership. The TL AWD was further pushed back to 11/15 at the earliest. The manager there was cursing a potential customer (after he walked out the door). He said this guy was crazy demanding a further decrease in price on the 2008 TL. "He wants a 3% hold back taken off but I don't have 3% hold back. I only get 2%."

So, from what the manager said the Acura dealer hold back appears to be 2%. I am not sure what dealer hold back on Infiniti cars.

As it has been explained to me, the 3000 is tied to the low % rate loan. The 1000 is dealership money that they can use in the deal.

Its the other way around. The $3000 is dealer cash that the dealer can choose to pass on if they want. It is not available with the special financing. The $1000 is available to all purchasers (not for leasing), and the dealer has no say in the matter.

The dealership by my house is advertsing 2008 M35's for $35,900, MSRP is around $48,000 (M35 awd with the headlight upgrade). Crazy price!

Has anyone bought a 2008 Infiniti G35 recently. I'm in a market for a new car and the Infiniti looks very attractive. I test drove it at Metro Infiniti in Monrovia...very nice.....but I don't know if I'm getting a good deal. This is a 2008 Infiniti G35 Journey with Premium and Navigation package. The quote I got is 32,300. Is this a good price?

Invoice on the car is around $35k. There is a $3000 incentive available if you do not lease or take the special 0%/.9% financing. There is also a $1000 incentive available for all.

The car is selling for about invoice right now, so if you are leasing or taking the special financing you should be around $34k, if you are not you should be around $31k.

There is a separate G35 Prices Paid forum that may be a better place to ask this question.

So you're saying that I can potentially successfully negotiate a price of about $32.6k+TTL for the G35x with premium and navigation packages? Or about $30.8k+TTL for the same car with only the premium package?

The above prices are basically invoice with those packages - $4000 in incentives, assuming I pay cash and not use their financing specials. Does this sound right?
