You know Njalan, the longer I hold off on buying the G35 Journey, I start having the same questions like you. The resale value, fuel economy, etc...I figure it all depends on how we plan to use the car. Daily driver for me, to & from work and since work is about 5 miles away, I only rack up close to (if not less) than 50miles/week. That helps with fuel costs. Plus I plan on keeping this car til it's drivetrain falls out from underneath it, so in regards to resale value, I'm hoping by then I'll have saved up enough for another car or for whatever else I need.

Of course this will be different for everyone, but that's how I convinced myself that if or when I buy this car, I won't have a ton of buyer's remorse. Best of luck with your car shopping and that is an amazing price on the car though.

I was looking for the same car best quote I got was 35195 with the .9 percent financing and 32195 without, but this is in NY. After reading the remarks in the m35 forum about them lowering residuals on leased cars by 6k if you would buy them and up to 12k on M35x. I began to remorse over the resale values of the car and the very key points you brought up fun car to drive but not wiithout its negatives, and will the economy rebound enough to bring them back up during the 5 years I will have it.

Well, your quote is better than my best quote by $458 plus tax. Actually, I made a mistake when computing the OTD price because I did not include the doc fee ($249), MV fee ($334) & other fee ($15.5). So, the correct OTD should be $35537.21.

I am still debating whether or not to go to the dealership next Monday to test drive the car. Thank you and Houston TN (Posting #6725) for the valuable opinion. Meanwhile, I welcome more advice from other folks in this forum.

Flooring Allowance on Infiniti? by txvinyl1

Has anyone here had any luck in getting a deal on a new 2008 Infiniti? I'm looking at the G37 and I've been talking with dealers all over Texas through the internet but nobody is offering me a good enough deal. I would like to get a G37 below invoice, and use the 0.9% APR. I've seen in several places that Infiniti has a 1% of the MSRP dealer holdback, and I saw on another website that, in addition, they have a 2% flooring allowance. Does anyone know if this information is accurate, or outdated? I've been looking throughout October, and it doesn't seem like the dealerships are selling many cars, because their online inventory remains the same everyday. Yet, they won't offer a good deal, some not even close to invoice. Has anyone here bought an Infiniti below invoice and used the 0.9%, or does anyone know if the holdback and flooring allowance is accurate?

1) Extremely low resale value.

I don't think that's true. G has very good resale value base on KBB. I think the big discounts on the new cars thus lower the trade in value for older cars is normal because of the economy. I think even the TL has lower value now b/c people can get a NEW '08 base TL for about 26K.

But go to a dealer and tell them you have a trade and kbb says its xxx. When they get up off the floor from laughing they will tell you they use galves or nada whoever gives the lowest number. Actually go to autotrader .com and look at 5 year old infiniti dealer resales they have dropped into the 15k-16k and these are at resale its tough to say how big and issue it will be in several years. It kind of makes me wonder if Nissan can afford to hemorage from two markee's if the recession is prolonged.

No, I didn't say that you should go to dealers and asking them to give you KBB's numbers. I just want to point out that since KBB rates the G so high, the resale value should NOT be that bad comparing to other cars like the TL.

If you have access to auction numbers, you can give us some numbers between the TL and the G. I really want to know that as well.
