That is always the choice, isn't it? Is car x worth $yyy more than car z? If you just want transportation you can do it for less. Once you have driven and appreciate the RWD (or AWD) driving dynamic FWD is just "wrong" to me. No way would *I* pay all that much for a FWD car, just go get an Accord, MINI or Mazdaspeed 3 or something and save the money. But that is *ME*. Most folks probably don't drive the way I do or care as much - maybe they don't mind FWD since they is all they know or they only have 1 car to drive and live where it snows. Test drive them both, preferably with no salesperson in the car and see what you think. I did, and the Cooper S (with works stuff on it) and lots of other cars before I decided on a G for *ME*. You have to do what makes you happy both behind the wheel but also in the wallet Dennis

Replying to: blnewto (Aug 04, 2008 3:20 pm) TL offer is invoice - 2500 + $300 ad fees + 188 tint = 30,038 51% residual / .00133 MF Lease payment $460 (first, doc, tags down) G35 offer is invoice + 500 profit + 100 tint - 500 loyalty = 33,261 58% residual / .00134 MF Lease payment $465 (first, doc, tags down) Not a tough call to eliminate TL from my list with this comparison. |

Other than that, this is a car I would have considered keeping after the three year term is up, but the G37 sedan and/or a rumored G37 coupe, AWD, hard top convertible will kill those dreams If you have the time to wait it out and are strongly considering the Acura, why not wait the a few months and get the new model TL?

Replying to: mvs1 (Aug 04, 2008 4:46 pm) the primary reason the acura is being considered is due to the current $2,500 incentive. thus it can be had for about 2,500 below invoice. as i pointed out earlier: for me, the g35x / 3 6 months / 12k miles, mf .00167, residual 59%, long story short the payment is around $487 (assumes invoice +500). the TL w/nav would be $453 / mo. Fuel costs only about 8% lower w/the TL so just about negligible. put the fuel difference plus the montly payment difference together and we are up to a 15% difference. not necessarily a slam dunk.

Replying to: purchasingsoon (Aug 04, 2008 5:15 pm) If it comes down to this and you don't see the added value of the G, then your choice is easy. Alot of folks would feel the 15% premium for AWD and better performance is the way to go. But that certainly doesn't have to be YOUR feeling, as well. |
