That is what can happen when you make a totally unrealistic offer. From your other post you are looking a journey sedan with sport and premium packs plus splash / mat / net with an MSRP of $37,935. Invoice on that car including destination is $34,655. Offering them $33k tells them you have no idea what the car costs or is worth. If you have offered them invoice + $0-500 then you might be close to getting a deal. Of course, some Infiniti dealers have really high regard for their cars and don't like to sell them without making a few thousand profit. So you may have to try several dealers to find one that will price the car right. You want to be within $500 of invoice cost (including destination) for the car, destination, and any dealer doc or prep fees.

Dennis, is this a good deal?
G37 Journey, Navigation, Premium, Illuminated Kick Plates
Invoice 38292, My negotiated price 38500
Dealer adding 4 splash guards invoiced at $150
MF= .0019
Residual= 62%
39 month lease, 10k miles per year
$1630 down payment (fees, registration, bank fee of 595, first month pmt)
$491 a month

This deal was better than my VPP code which only got me to 300 over invoice. I figure this is respectable, no ? I ran this dealb other dealerships on-line and they claim to be able to beat it, but sounds like it wouldnt be worth the hassle for a few bucks. your opinion greatly appreciated...

Is there any dealer doc or prep fee? Did you check the lease rate against the buy rate I posted the other day? I would skip the splash guards, personally. I am surprised you found a car that did not have them as port added options. To me, they look like the cheap plastic that they are and don't add to the looks of the car - they detract from it and look stuck on.

Anyway, unless you have a high dealer fee or are not getting the buy rate then that looks like a nice deal to me.

Hi Dennis, many thanks for your response... Regarding the splash guards - you are right, they are not ideal looking, but I figured it is better than nothing, especially since the roads near my home in the NYC suburbs alway seem to be under construction! Makes owning a nice car difficult....
Dealer said only G37s with the Sport Packages were being delivered with port installed splash guards... without the Sport Package it would be an add on... who knows... Initially I was able to bargain the price down to 300 over invoice... other fees in the deal included standard 595 bank fee, standard motor vehicle fee 250 (if actual cost here is less they rebate me the balance), document fee 249, no prep fees or anything else. I complained about the 249 doc fee, dealer said they are forced to charge everyone the same doc fee due to legal reasons, but I was persistent so he knocked another 100 of the car, bringing me to 200 over invoice - considering the splash guards being added, I considered I am getting the car for basically invoice. I double checked MF was accurate at .0019, added 2% to residual due to 10k miles only on the lease, checked bank fee - everything legit, dealer really was honest. When I hit him the VPP, he was also honest - said that deal gets to 300 over invoice, and even admitted they are incentivized by IFS with a 2.5% holdback on MSRP rather than the regular 2% - but that the numbers on my deal were better. I know dealers tend to dispute invoices, but I was able to find this on-line and when I presented it I was able to get the right deal.. the salesman and manager were shocked, said they had never seen a customer bring this into a dealership... check out this link: http://www.g37driver.com/Pricing.pdf
In any case, I am satisfied.. went to a high volume dealer, they sell 180 Infinitis a month.. Regarding the lease rate vs buy rate - not familiar with that aspect, can you tell if I am in line? Anyway, I want to thank you for all your posts - I was able to educate myself about the process by researching this site and I felt so prepared in the dealership.

If you add the doc fee to your price then you get your real price, which is quite close to invoice = good deal.

I would still have them leave the cheap plastic splash guards off . My G37 6mt had them port installed along with the cargo net and trunk mat - all three items are pretty much a rip off.

Did you find that the invoice pretty much matched the invoice numbers you see here on Edmunds, KBB, and carsdirect.com ?

What color are you getting?

Yes, the invoice price was spot on according to Edmunds... there have been two price increases on the G37 since rollout last yr - I confirmed this thru several sources... max of $250 on a fully loaded car at each price increase... my car is pre one of the price increases.. but either way, Edmunds was within $50... Sticker on the car was 41750, invoice 38292 - difference of 3458 which seems accurate as well. Getting the Blue Slate color dark graphite leather. I was new to this whole process a week ago, but learned so much on this site. I just feel bad for others that walk into a dealership with no info and get totally blindsided by a salesman. Just curious - do you have a background in the auto industry?

Nice colors and nice price. If you get one of the pre-increase cars then it is "fair" to compare your price to the current invoice price and it makes your deal even better .

Nope, just a car nut. I have had a bunch of cars over the years and once I learned the beauty of leasing was able to increase the count by quite a few . I love getting good deals and hate it when folks get ripped off. Keep in mind though, the dealer can afford to give you and me a sweet deal because so many of the other folks will take a deal with $500 off MSRP and a marked up rate as long as they like the payment. So all that profit lets them give others a deal without so much money in it .

I finally have my G broken in, but right now is perfect convertible weather so the G has been sitting most days. Getting 17mpg commuting on premium helps make it a little easier to park.

    G35 for $1000 under invoice? by overratedny

    I just got an email from a NYC-area dealership advertising the G35 for $1000 under invoice. I live near San Francisco now. Any chance a Bay Area dealership will sell me a G35 for $1000 under invoice?
