How bad did I get it? by mike3767

I was a little nervous to post this due to me finding out how bad I got hosed. But this was our deal:
2008 G35X
Every option except the cruise control thing.
trade in was a 03 hummer that we purchased 8 months ago and we carried over $8,000 negative equity towards the G35X (ouch)
$2,000 down
3 year lease/12k miles per year
payment with tax (5.5%) 767.00 a month

We took the H2 in to get an oil change and found out there was about $6,000 in repairs that needed to be done, got a second opinion and they said the same thing. So with gas prices, we decided to look at cars and found the Infiniti and we love it. Me being in real estate, the nav. works great. I have no complaints and I don't have a stroke writing the check every month. It is definetly worth the money knowing we got out of the H2 with all the problems and into this vehicle. How bad do you guys think we took it in the shorts? I am a little curious to hear everybody's remarks.

Well considering a 5 year loan for $40,000 at 2.9% is $715.00 w/no money down. And would be under $700 w/ $2000.00 down. I think you got hosed a little. If you purchaed the car instead of leasing it. You'de get a little money back if you sold it three years later.IMO.

What happened with the H2? Bought from Dealer or private?

I just bought a G35X on 04/30/08. Everything except the Nav. package.

Lease term 39 month / 15 K per year.

- gross cap cost is $37,255 ($35,114 + $1,546 tax + $595 aquisition)
- residual is $22,021
- depreciation amt is $15,234
- rent charge is $4,207
- monthly payt is $498 (payt would have been $492 but the dealer gave me $500 cash for my last SAAB lease payt)
- $716 down (1st month + DMV fees only)

I live in Albany, NY and had a great experience with this transaction.

They originally told me $542 mo. payt + $2500 down and I ended up with the above deal. I've been leasing since 1988 and I felt this was a good transaction.

Good luck
JC

Hi:
I got 2 weeks ago the following car:

Infiniti 2008 G35 Journey with the following:
Premium Package
Infiniti Navigation Package
Painted Splash Guards
Trunk Cargo Net
Tinted Glass
Lojack
Price Paid= $35100
This is not including ttl etc...

I calculated with the tint glass and lojack I paid $400.00 below invoice

I also included a 7 years 100,00 miles extended warranty 0 deductible for $1900.00. I think this was a little high.. but I did not want to keep pushing..
I also got a good discount in my insurance for the lojack
Is this a good deal???

wow,

i can't get the dealer to work with me at all. they offered me the deal at whatever i had posted earlier, something around $36,600, and i countered with $33,000 thinking we'd eventually end up at $34,000. instead, they told me good luck and wished me well.

oh well.......next dealer i guess? but this process is frustrating and i'm almost just as suited to keep the car i have.

That is what can happen when you make a totally unrealistic offer. From your other post you are looking a journey sedan with sport and premium packs plus splash / mat / net with an MSRP of $37,935. Invoice on that car including destination is $34,655. Offering them $33k tells them you have no idea what the car costs or is worth. If you have offered them invoice + $0-500 then you might be close to getting a deal. Of course, some Infiniti dealers have really high regard for their cars and don't like to sell them without making a few thousand profit. So you may have to try several dealers to find one that will price the car right. You want to be within $500 of invoice cost (including destination) for the car, destination, and any dealer doc or prep fees.

Dennis, is this a good deal?
G37 Journey, Navigation, Premium, Illuminated Kick Plates
Invoice 38292, My negotiated price 38500
Dealer adding 4 splash guards invoiced at $150
MF= .0019
Residual= 62%
39 month lease, 10k miles per year
$1630 down payment (fees, registration, bank fee of 595, first month pmt)
$491 a month

This deal was better than my VPP code which only got me to 300 over invoice. I figure this is respectable, no ? I ran this dealb other dealerships on-line and they claim to be able to beat it, but sounds like it wouldnt be worth the hassle for a few bucks. your opinion greatly appreciated...

Is there any dealer doc or prep fee? Did you check the lease rate against the buy rate I posted the other day? I would skip the splash guards, personally. I am surprised you found a car that did not have them as port added options. To me, they look like the cheap plastic that they are and don't add to the looks of the car - they detract from it and look stuck on.

Anyway, unless you have a high dealer fee or are not getting the buy rate then that looks like a nice deal to me.
