I think it is a waste of your money. The paddle shifters are a shiny bauble - if you want to change gears yourself get a 6mt car. Ditto the exterior changes, aluminum pedals, and the "stitching". The sport seats might be worth a bit extra, but may not be as comfy as the non-sport seats.

That leaves you with the tires. The x comes with:

Double 5-spoke, 17 x 7.5-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 225/55R17 V-rated all-season performance tires

The sports pack tires should be:

Split 7-spoke 18 x 7.5-inch (front and rear) aluminum-alloy wheels. 225/50R18 (front and rear) V-rated all-season tires

Dropping the aspect ratio can make the car a bit more responsive but at the cost of some ride quality (and the risk of bending a rim in a pot hole).

At least on the x tire or sports pack all the tires are the same size - on the other sedans they are staggered so you can't rotate your tires for longer life.

The real kicker is when you have to replace the tires - I am sure the soft V rated tires will wear out before your lease is up. Plug in the normal x size at TireRack and you have tons of choices starting at $87 each and up and some really good choices under $100. Plug in the optional sport/tire pack size and they have 4 choices ranging from $99 up to $191 EACH. The $99 tire is not a performance tire, just a touring tire. The only other all season tire they carry in this size IS a performance all season but it is $174 EACH.

So pay more now for a little fluff and not much content, then when you need tires you will be paying more again.

So is $1,100 at MSRP worth it? No way I would say. I also would not buy the car without a thorough test drive and comparison to the non-sports x sedan - which you could do if you wait around for months for the car to come in. Your money would be better spent on a set of snow tires and wheels. Looks like about $1,200 delivered for 4 Blizzaks mounted on 17" alloy wheels with tire pressure sensors. When you wear out your OEM tires you could then go to performance summer tread tires and gain more grip than the sports pack tires would provide - and you would have tons more grip in the ice and snow with the dedicated snow tires installed.

I got mine at Infiniti of Gwinnett. My salesman was the internet manager (Roger) and he was great. Explained everything, responded to emails, etc and was very understanding in all matters. I had also worked with Roswell Infiniti in Atlanta and their internet manager (Jeff) was also very nice, but we never discussed pricing. I would recommend either but I ended up purchasing from Gwinnett. So far I have 700 miles and love it!

I ended up going to Infiniti of Decatur. I negotiated an '08 G35 Journey with Premium and Nav for $34,000, but the "only" one they could find in the area had wheel locks and nitrogen in the tires so they wanted $100 more. So $34,100 + $599 doc fee (wouldn't budge on the doc fee even from the start). I think it was a pretty good deal - Edmunds says invoice is $34,203.

Great deal, grats! I'm amazed they went below invoice, and also surprised you didn't get a car with the port-installed-options of trunk mat, cargo net, and splash guards - seems like they all have that. What color did you get? Enjoy the car - it's great!

Hello, I have been following this forum for weeks now. I am hoping someone can help me with the following deals I was offered on a 2008 Journey with premium package. These are for a Lease:

1. $4,800 down. 39 months/12,000 miles. $419.95 per month.
2. $4,800 down. 24 months/12,000 miles. $386.00 per month.

All taxes are included in the monthly payment. Is this a good deal? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I think you can get the X version for the same price. I paid for g35x with premium package

$3,000 down. 39 months/15,000 miles. $477.00 per month

I think you are paying about $25.00 more a month then I am if you work out the numbers. Plus mine is the G35x.

I would recommend putting less money into the deal. All you are really doing is pre-paying for future lease payments. Said differently, let's suppose that $3900 of your $4800 is going towards cap cost reduction. That makes your monthly payment lower, but think of it as $100/month for the term of the lease, or $519.95 in the 39 month lease example you provided.

You'd do better to put that money in a savings account and augment your payment each month with that money. Infiniti gets the use of your money sooner. There is no benefit to you other than the psychological feeling of having a "low payment".

Finally, if something were to happen to your car rendering it a total loss (i.e. theft or accident rendering the vehicle totalled), you'd be out your initial investment as the gap insurance will only compensate you up to the exposure on the vehicle.

If they did not have the car you wanted on the lot and had to locate one, why didn't you just walk out when you heard the high doc fee and them saying they would not budge? Go to a dealer that charges no doc fee or a very small one and if they didn't have the car on the lot, they could have located and sold you the same car. Now, they may have charged more to make up for not charging you the $600 doc fee, but you never know - and by paying such a high fee you encourage them to keep on charging it. If you had said "no way, I will go elsewhere to get my new car" then eventually, if enough folks do it, they will toss that fee out.
