How not to make a sale by lmacmil

Went into Fields Infiniti in Glenview, IL this afternoon. After driving around the lot a couple times due to the lack of parking spaces, we finally got into the showroom. There appeared to be salesmen available but no one approached me as I sat in a G35 or my wife as she got in an FX. We stood around for a couple more minutes and decided they didn't want our business and left.

They had also not responded to an email inquiry I sent recently. Business must be good if you can ignore potential customers.

Just bought a '05 Coupe 6MT in northern NJ (Ramsey Infiniti). I showed the salesman Edmund's TMV and the guy without hesitation wrote immediately the order for exactly that amount. It was that fast and very professional, no BS.
Invoice $36,620 + TTL & Tx
Paid $35,800 + TTL & Tx

I probably could have gotten the car for a few hundred bucks less if I haggled the price, but the smooth transaction was worth it. Comments welcomed

I'm looking to buy a G35 Coupe trim, Auto, with Premium package, and DVD Navigation System. I test drove the car today at "Kings Infiniti" (Brooklyn, NY) and it feels awesome. The dealer didn't want to give me an exact price to walk out with, but told me it would be in the ($34,200 to 35,200) range (including Destiation charges and other fees). Is that a good price? considering that the Invoice price for the car with my options is $33,801 (excluding Destination charge)

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about your experience at Fields. I have been having a nice email exchange with the Internet Sales Manager there, getting decent quotes. Not sure if that email is on the site, but I believe I contacted them through cars.com and got replies back quickly. I've always read that Saturdays are the worst to go car shopping, and it sounds like it's true!

When I go shopping for a car I prefer to be left alone until I'm ready. Did you ask any of the salesmen for help ?

As for the email, maybe they never received it. There's many of time I send emails to people and they never receive them. Did you followup with a second email?

When I've been in a showroom getting in and out of cars, I don't think I should have to ask for help. At the Acura dealer down the street, they had a couple of attractive young receptionists asking people how they could help you as soon as you walked in the door. If I had just been looking outside in the lot then I wouldn't necessarily have expected someone to come out.

I followed up with an email describing what happened the next day. No response yet and I'm not expecting anything. If I buy an Infiniti, it won't be from them.

pas21, I was just quoted $35,500 on an '05 G35x, premium C, nav, sirrius radio. This is a demo car with 5,000 miles on it. I calculated MSRP at $39,000 and invoice at $35,650 (the car has pre-increase pricing). I am in Ohio; the dealership is in Michigan.

2005 G35X AWD buying help...Is this a good price? by eastwing

I test drove a G35X this afternoon...loved this car. Then I asked for the best price they can give me for a G35X, with Moon roof as the only option (no premium package). Without any haggling, they quoted me $32,060. According to the sales person, this is $500 above their cost. I did not take this price on the spot, thinking probably I can get a better price, since my gut told me that their cost should be lower then they claimed, ( I don't believe that they are happy with making only $500 for this car).

What do you think of this price? Is it realistic to negotiate the price down to about $31k? Does someone has information about dealer rebate/incentive then their cost is below the published invoice price??

Thanks in advance for your help.
