Too true-I've yet to see a G35 without the full size spare, but I'm sure that they're out there.
The difference in the trunks between full size and space saver is that since the full size is taller when laying on it's side, the rest of the trunk has two inch tall styrofoam pads covering the trunk floor in order to have a level surface.
So it's not really usable space that's lost. In a pinch, you could remove the pads to regain the room.

When I was shopping a couple of months ago, ending up with an '04 6MT, there were plenty of cars available with the space saver tire. I wonder if things changed for '05. If so, I think it's a bad idea. Tires are so reliable nowadays, and most people who buy cars in this class have AAA or belong to some auto club that will come and change the tire for you. Besides, there's the Infiniti Owners Club that has that service.

To me, the full size spare makes little sense any more.

I think it was Cody I responded to earlier about the trunk space. He was looking at the coupe, which is an entirely different story, but my comments on the trunk space in the G were all based on the sedan with the smaller spare.

I've seen a couple of posts lately about this dealership and just wanted to share my own experience.
In my view, this is one of the better Infiniti dealerships in North Jersey area: they are polite, respectful, and not pushy. However, I felt that their sales tactics were somewhat strange. Here is why: I went there to compare FX35 and G35x last month, did not plan to buy at that time. The salesperson still wanted to talk about prices, mentioned the invoice price for G35x w/premium and sat radio, and asked how much do I think is fair to pay. I said $200 over invoice, he went to "check with the manager" and came back in a few min. And now comes the strangest part: he tells me that he was wrong to show me the invoice price (as if I did not know it), and they should be making money on the deal, they just sold the same car for 36K+, and the price the manager offers is $35,600 (a bit higher than $34,200). Naturally, I got very puzzled since I have never seen a negotiation strategy where you raise your own suggested price (I suggested the price, I know, but he gave me the ball park by asking how much over the invoice).
I started to leave, he asked me what is my final offer, I said $200 over invoice, he "talked to the manager", and they agreed. I also mentioned that I'd have to pick up the car in about three weeks - lease obligations - which would make it the first week of February and salesperson said OK. In three days their finance manager calls me and asks when am I picking it up. He got somewhat nervous when I said I needed it in February and started pushing for next week. Yes, it could be due to the end of month sales numbers, but if it is true what they say about the deal dated when the initial contract is signed, it should not matter. I think it had something to do with 1.9/2.9% financing that became available in February. I suspected such since there were no promotions in Jan, but wish they were more forthcoming about it (it really did not matter to me though, I paid the bulk of it in cash). So I went to Ramsey Infiniti and to make a long story short, got the same car plus wood interior (matter of preference, I understand) for $200 under the invoice plus they gave me trunk protector and all-weather mats (it is not much, but I did not ask for it, which makes it nice). There was practically no bargaining, they did not ask for proof of other deal - I did not even mentioned the other deal, just the price I was looking for.

That's an amazing deal you got there. It's even more amazing because you didn't spend much time bargaining between several dealers.

I didn't know the G35 sedans are actually selling below invoice right now. Must be some kind of incentives????

g35 out of state lease question by billykrebs

Does anyone know how you handle a lease out of state? I have the ability to buy a G in NC with VPP pricing. I live in Virginia. Apparently the 2 states handle sales tax differently. NC puts it on the payment and it is only your share of what you use during your lease and VA makes you pay it all up front at once. So, if it lease it in VA will I be able to go by the NC rules or will they have to do it by the VA rules in NC? The NC dealer doesn't seem to know what I am talking about but the VA dealer says the other dealer doesn't know what they are talking about.

Thanks,

William

Great forum. I am wondering what lease prices are going for in the Metro Detroit area. Unfortunately, there is only one Infiniti dealer in the area. I am interested in a 2005 sedan, automatic, sport and premium package. thanks.

330 or g35coupe=answer. by gmoney1

I am going to finally solve the debate of 330 versus g35. I owned a 330ci with the sports package before I totalled it (long story). I now own a 04' g35 coupe. Both were manual of course. In my opinion, the g35c is a better car for less money. The engine is more powerful while the handling is comparable to that of the 330ci. The interior might be a little cheaper looking but I got the car to drive not to look at the interior. After owning both vehichles, I think that it is simply not worth the extra 5 grand to get the bimmer. Case closed.

Picked up our '05 6mt coupe yesterday and have been driving it ever since. No trip to the grocery store is too small...included prem, rear aero, splash guards and trunk mat for $34,700 in St. Louis area. HTH.

But wanted to get some pricing advice. I have a 02 Max GLE that I am going to trade for a G35 Sedan 6MT. I looked at carsdirect's pricing, and they show only a $500 above invoice price. Some details:

05 Sedan 6MT
premium pkg
aero boy kit with spoiler
nav
the pricing is as follows from carsdirect:
Invoice:34,151 Target:34,651 MSRP:37,460

I went through the process to have a dealer contact me, and if they would go for the target price, which if its there I would assume thats the price I should get, does everyone think that 500 over invoice is a super deal? On a new model with all these revisions? Or has anyone had a problem actually using this site and the price is more of a wish list price that never actually happens?
I want to move quick on this since my Max is depreciating faster than I pay it off with the miles I drive...
