Neo, I am also 6'-4", 230 lbs but early in my car search (targeting Mar 1 purchase). I have sat in the car but not driven it yet. If you buy a G35 sedan, please give detailed review of your ergonomics.

Please don't request emails here. It is preferred that you list your buying experience to share. Also, risk getting lots of spam by listing email on board. Better to list as public in your account.

From what I've heard, many people are trading up to the 05 because of the improvements in interior, options and under the hood.

Do you know if the 04's are mostly RWD or AWD? My guess would be many made the mistake of not thinking about the winder with a RWD vehicle. Obviously, that's just a guess.

My advice would be to go with the 05. Depending on how much your putting down, the financing cost between 1.9 or 2.9 and 5% is minimal. Te extra couple thousand for the 05 is WELL WORTH IT.

Improvements from 04 to 05:

Power Telescope Wheel w/ Memory Seat
Illuminated Wheel Controls
Improved Interior Quality
Intelligent Key (ONE OF MY FAVORITE FEATURES but requires premium package)
Increased HP to 280 (298 on MT)

If you ask me...these improvements are well worth the added cost of the 05.

Nav systems by gmk519

I opted to not by the NAV on my 05, partly due to cost. I have a Garmin which bought for under $1k over a year ago (Infiniti Nav invoice is $1800) and it performs all the same functions including mapping, locating restaurants and other stops, and detour directions that Infiniti's system does, but its portable with easy updates.

If you have an 05, the Garmin mounts perfectly where the Nav would normally pop out from (although you will need to permantly afix the mount as the sand bag will not fit). If you have an 04 or older model, you might be tight on space. The other problem is that the dash space is the G35 is limited. I guess its a personal preference, but being able to take my GPS with me when I travel and/or rent a vehicle is great. Just can't do that with the Infiniti nav.

On the other hand, I really liked the size and look of the infinit Nav...just couldn't justify paying $2k for it.

That is a pretty nice deal with the NAV. It sounds like it was heck of a lot of work but worth it.

Good Luck with the car

Speedy5,

Thanks for the heads up. I already got the car in late December at Douglas. I went up to Infiniti of Denvill having an Internet quote in hand and asked a sales rep about it. He said the Internet guy was not there and unless I was willing to do a deal on the spot to come back. I also asked for a 2005 quote and they had given me a 2004. Sort of a classic bait and switch. I got on here and realized the quote was too good to be true.

I felt like they were jerking me around and I am closer to Summit anyway so I ended up buying at Douglas. I am glad you got a good deal though and you are happy.

Good Luck with your car.
Regards,
CDOST

Dealer Incentives by george7777

Looks like the $1000 dealer incentives are good for all the '04 sedan models through January. Not on the coupe, though.

Make sure you check for your OWN ZIP code, though, as incentives & rebates can vary from region to region. Don't want anyone to end up disappointed when arriving at the dealership only to find that that incentive doesn't apply!

That's a good point, Kirstie. I didn't realize the incentive may not apply universally.

However, that brings up a way Edmunds could improve the service, by changing the search format. Select the make and model first, and the display results could show the zips where an incentive is available. That way, prospective buyers would know immediately if going just into the next zip code would bear fruit or be totally senseless.

As a forum host, maybe you could present the idea to them.

When you click on the incentives & rebates link, you're immediately asked for your ZIP code. If you have cookies enabled, the system remembers your ZIP code and you don't have to enter it again! That way, you get only the rebates & incentives available in your area. If you can focus on a particular vehicle, then putting in several ZIP codes to check doesn't take much time - the incentives tend to vary by region rather than changing every 10 miles or so. Focusing on major cities near you is always a good idea.

If we changed it to display each ZIP code, the page could end up miles long, especially if the incentive is available nearly nationwide - we'd have a list of over 90,000 ZIP codes

Personally, I don't think that works well, but you're welcome to make the suggestion yourself using our "help" link at the top.
