Did you comparison shop with Sewell Infiniti in Dallas? We live closer to Grubbs, but my wife's job is closer to Sewell. We are interested in the G35, too.

Replying to: brodway (Dec 05, 2004 7:13 am) The offers I've received aren't directly comparable. The car with the miles has nav, which I am kind of interested in, and is out of town, while another offer has no nav, but is local. Both offers are about $1000 under invoice. Where are you and what did you do to get an offer that is $2500 under invoice? That sounds like a really good deal. Can you give the details, or have they already been posted? [My original note appeared twice, many hours apart. I have no idea why. It certainly wasn't anything I did intentionally.] |

We bought my wife a 2005 G35x from a Denver dealer on Thursday, through the VPP program. Here are the details, including the requisite number of weird things car dealers love to put customers through: Description/MSRP/Invoice G35x/32500/29893 Premium package/3500/3016 Navigation package/2000/1805 Wood package/250/216 Sirus radio/400/345 Trunk mat/70/58 Destination/590/590 Total/39310/35923 VPP calculation (Description/price/ Comments) Dealer Invoice/35331.39 VPP discount/-582.97 Dealer options/171.61/Locking lug nuts and wax job Delivery fee/868.71 Destination/590.00 Marketing Assessment/0.00 Incentives/0.00 VPP Price/36378.75 Clear bra/395.00 Dealer handling/359.00/Pure profit, even according to the sales person Total +TT/37132.75 Not counting the bra, it worked out to about $815 over invoice, which I figure you could negotiate yourself without much difficulty. We traded a 2002 Honda Accord coupe and they gave us $14350 for it, essentially matching the best offer we had from a private party, though that thing was really hard to sell. We paid cash for the rest. They didn't hesitate, at all, to sell the car for VPP, though they really didn't honor that, once you count all the crap they charge. The experience was fine, and the deal pretty average, though I was out of my seat headed for the door over the silly $359 "handling" nonsense, but my wife talked me out of it. (Her car, remember. A few questions for you who've done this before: 1) Does NNA allow dealers to add their raw naked profit charges on top of VPP? If so, what's the point of VPP? You could do as well just subtracting whatever figure they post on their little signs from whatever you offer and negotiate the price yourself. 2) Are dealers really required to run a credit check even when you're paying cash? This one claimed it was because of the Patriot Act, which I found laughable, but I suppose it could be true. Can anyone comment, and state the section of the act that requires it? While the experience was nothing you couldn't get from any dealer, the car is really cool! I don't drive luxury cars - the nicest car I ever bought myself was an '86 Mazda 626GT - so I'm really impressed with this thing. Mark |

| Just bought 2005 g35 RWD, $30195. Only options being only the sunfoof and trund mat. This works out to be $500 over invoice. Same dealer also offered $500 over invoice for AWD models as well. | |

Replying to: buffaloes (Dec 06, 2004 11:41 am) What's interesting is you said the same dealer is offering $500 over invoice for an AWD. I thought those are in much higher demand and should be more like $1500 over invoice. Can you tell us what options are on it since some members here are still hunting for an AWD 05. 007

I've been looking at the 04 G35's. The dealer in Indianapolis that I went to yesterday, (while they were closed) seemed to have ton's of them in stock. I figured if I wait till the end of the month they'll give me a better deal to move them. Can anybody tell me if they've bought an 04 recently, since this is Dec. already and what kind of deal they got?
