Is that $530 a month with nothing down? If so, sounds like you got a great deal. To get the purchase price down to around $500 a month with 2.9% interest, I would need to put $7,000 down. Chose the lease since I would rather free up the cash for investments rather than sinking it into a quickly depreciating asset.

CRAIG:

You did not include the VPP discount in your calculations (which is 1.65% of the invoice price, or roughly $544 ).

I checked with Nissan. Employees of supplier companies are "Business Associates" (claim #'s begin with a "D"); they are not employees of Nissan or its various affiliates (owned companies & companies jointly mfg with them). The web site was intended for employees and their families/friends.

Business Associates seem to get the same deal as sponsored family/friends get as described on that web site.

The dealer gets a 5% profit under the VPP. If the buyer is a Nissan employee, Nissan pays the whole amount. But mere Business Associates have to pay half of that that dealer profit themselves.

$30,573 - 1.65% + 2.5% = $260 over invoice cost, + $550 destination chg + $400 advertising = or about $1200 above invoice cost overall. Still, this is much much better than any discount my AAA club can get for me on the AWD, and this kind of discount is even better than the AAA club discount price of $600 over invoice for non-AWD models plus destination + advertising.

So I guess it's a good deal, just not as good as it first sounded.

It is not fair to say that the cost is $1,200 over invoice. The true cost over invoice is $260 (as you stated above).

Just my opinion. (I wouldn't calculate the dest and assessment in it).

Lease Fees and comments by moeronn

It seems like I have narrowed my search down to the South Bay and Cerritos Infiniti dealers. I got quotes from a couple other dealers as well, but they seemed to keep tacking on misc charges. Now I just need to get my car back from the shop and sell it.

For those that have leased or purchased, was the advertizing fee ($400) tacked on? For those that leased, you have to pay a $550 bank fee to IFS, but did you also have to pay the $45 doc fee?

g35_wang - I am also curious if you are purchasing or leasing and how much you put down and what the terms were.

stockwatch - your terms don't seem too far off, though you should have been able to get more mileage for that price. The "no down" was a nice bonus, though.

Thanks for all the info and feedback. I hope to be driving a G35x within the next couple of weeks.

Out of door price was 33900. My loan terms are 60 month and 4.9% from my credit union. I did put 5000 down though, and the monthly payment is 546 (in my last post, I thought it is close to 530, sorry).

Still about the same as your lease terms. Think about it, after 5 years (56 more month), it's all mine. I understand why some people want to lease, but I also saw some many of them ending up buying the car at the end of the lease (otherwise they have to pay for extra milage). Is your lease for only 10K miles/year? Man, watch out, 10K is nothing even for me whose daily commute is only 15 miles (round trip). In my 4.5 month of ownership, I already have 5200 miles on it.

Advertizing fee? Never heard of it in my negotiation. DO NOT pay it.

Doc fee of 45? I paid 90, so 45 is not bad at all. But, that was the only fee I paid.

Hope these helps.

Here we go again. The MA is a regional charge (it varies from place to place) levied on each car by Infiniti. It is part of the invoice sent by Infiniti to the dealership for each car. The invoice prices on Edmunds and KBB do not reflect this charge. The ones on Carsdirect do.
Rumour has it that Infiniti have decided to scrap this charge by the end of March 2004 and raise the invoice price on all cars by 1.0 to 1.5% instead.

Dealer Support if Car is Purchased Elsewhere by jaonw

Since there are very few dealers in the northwest, it is almost impossible to get a quote for much less than MSRP for a sedan. But I am considering purchasing in California (& just driving it back) where I've been quoted prices around 500 over invoice. The salesperson at the dealership near me told me if I do that and the car has any problems, they will not support me! Can anyone confirm this - should I be seriosly concerned about that?
