You are pretty much stuck with MSRP just about anywhere, right now. This should be changing pretty soon as there seems to be plenty of coupes on the lots now (at least in So Cal). One dealer I went to even had 5 of the exact same coupe (color, options, everything) in addition to the other 20+ coupes on the lot and would not negotiate on them. While they may still be selling well, they are not flying off the showroom floor faster than they can get more in - like they were last year at this time.

Infiniti web site for VPP is ... by craiginnj

Just in case it hasn't been mentioned before, the Nissan (/Infiniti) Vehicle Purchase Program (VPP) information web site is at http://www.insidenissan.com/vpp/vendor/index.html

I stumbled across that via an Yahoo search on words that happened to be in there.

Unfortunately, it seems like I'm not getting the terms described there. Rather than being treated like an employee of a supplier to Nissan, I'm apparently being treated like a sponsored friend or family member of one. As a result, there's 2.5% dealer delivery fee added into the price instead of none. (The web site seems to indicate that either way, the dealer will get paid a 5% fee by Nissan to make it worth their while.)

So on Monday I'll have to call the VPP dept. and ask whether there is an error, or whether employees of suppliers only count like friends.

The bottom line is that a G35x with base + options invoice cost of $30,573 ends up $1,200 over that. (Base & options, less VPP discount, then add 2.5% delivery fee + destination fee + marketing assessment fee.) I'd sure like to get rid of that delivery fee. A bottom line of $1,200 over invoice doesn't sound so fantastic to me. (And then there'll be tags & taxes to pay on top of that.)

Northwest G35 Prices by buzzador

I am looking at the G35 sedan with or without AWD. It appears there are very few (i.e. none) message board claims of receiving good prices in the Northwest (WA, OR, ID). I live in Oregon which has no sales tax ( definitely a bonus). Washington waves their sales tax for Oregon residence. Hence, there is an incentive for me to buy in Oregon or Washington. Unfortunately nobody seem to offer anything other than MSRP. I see G35s on the road up here in the NW, so somebody has had to buy one here. Anybody out there?

I leased a G35X yesterday from Jim Coleman Infiniti. Premium Package with Full Size Spare; Wood Trim and Splash Guards. MSRP $36,075. VPP Price: $33230.85. I ended up leasing it with nothing down; 48 month lease; 10,000 miles a month. Price with lease tax is $523.88 month. I feel like that was high, but Inifinit finance said that was the best they could do. Any thoughts appreciated on other lease deals folks have received on their leases since the Money Factor here seems high (around 7.75%).

I am paying about $530 a month for my 2004 G35s w/Premium package+wood+minor things. Surely G35x is more expensive than G35s, but only couple of thousand, right? I wouldn't pay that much for a lease!

Is that $530 a month with nothing down? If so, sounds like you got a great deal. To get the purchase price down to around $500 a month with 2.9% interest, I would need to put $7,000 down. Chose the lease since I would rather free up the cash for investments rather than sinking it into a quickly depreciating asset.

CRAIG:

You did not include the VPP discount in your calculations (which is 1.65% of the invoice price, or roughly $544 ).

I checked with Nissan. Employees of supplier companies are "Business Associates" (claim #'s begin with a "D"); they are not employees of Nissan or its various affiliates (owned companies & companies jointly mfg with them). The web site was intended for employees and their families/friends.

Business Associates seem to get the same deal as sponsored family/friends get as described on that web site.

The dealer gets a 5% profit under the VPP. If the buyer is a Nissan employee, Nissan pays the whole amount. But mere Business Associates have to pay half of that that dealer profit themselves.

$30,573 - 1.65% + 2.5% = $260 over invoice cost, + $550 destination chg + $400 advertising = or about $1200 above invoice cost overall. Still, this is much much better than any discount my AAA club can get for me on the AWD, and this kind of discount is even better than the AAA club discount price of $600 over invoice for non-AWD models plus destination + advertising.

So I guess it's a good deal, just not as good as it first sounded.
